Alright many people gave it shit when it came out, and I was curious as to what was actually bad in the game?
By extension do you guys believe this game did well in comparison to other games in the franchise?
>>
>>339967550
Vergil got fucked over the most in terms of character.
Just saying.
>>
FUCK YOU
>>
It actually wasn't that bad as far as third person slashers go. You can probably ascribe that to Capcom employees coming in and giving NT a bunch of pointers on how to make a good game.
>in comparison to other games in the franchise
In comparison to other games in the franchise, it's pretty embarrassing, discounting DMC2.

A decent third person slasher (with all the same a fucktarded story), but not comparable to DMC.
>>
The battle with those 2 fat assholes was much harder than any true boss, that's how well the game was designed.
>>
>>339967550
It was pretty bad

If it didnt have any connection to dmc, it'd still be laughed at for its cringey character and dialogue

If you can tolerate Donte and the shitty dialog in DmC you must be just as intolerable as the game itself.
>>
>>339967550
Same shit that happened to the Ghostbusters
It was the fact it had the Devil May Cry name that digged it's grave
Unlike the new ghostbusters, DmC you can actually find good points, like this dante is a nice mix of nero and dante from dmc4 and the combat is fun
It's WAY better than dmc2
>>
>>339969414
Actually I would say the club boss was good, in terms of standard enemies I would say that teleporting guy with the mask was probably the best enemy to fight in the game.

I liked Vergil a lot.

But he pales in comparison to the DMC3 Vergil. Nowhere near as awesome as him.

>Was it as bad as we thought?
nah, it was okay
>do you guys believe this game did well in comparison to other games in the franchise?
Fucking god, no! The only way to enjoy this game at all is to consider it completely unrelated to the actual DMC games.

FICK DICH
>>
>>339970958
That's the reason I don't like him. In 3 at least he was honorable and despite him being powermad he ultimately was doing it out of a sense of honor.
That fucking faggot in DmC essentially wanted to rule the world and was a backstabbing cunt in order to do it.
Just my opinion though.
>>
>>339967550
beaten the whole game on all difficulties and unlocked pretty much all the concept art it had

Was fun. For a guy like me who has never played early DMCs. All I knew is that dante was that guy with the red coat with white hair.
I can pretty much say i was their targeted audience.

Idk why everyone hates this game so much. I liked it a lot and I still play it every so often to see how much better I can get
Pretty happy with SSS ratings after any fight, very satisfying
>>
>>339969278
The music was also pretty good.
>>
>>339972015
Its a step down from dmc3 and 4 in every way and idiotic concepts like damage based style meter and color coded enemies ruined the combat

Thats not even getting into the huge problems with the story and tone >>339972015
>>
>>339967550

It was shit. There is a reason it failed to meet any of it's sales expectations, and not because it was a good game, because it wasn't.
>>
>>339967550
Yes, it was.

It was a good game. It was not a good DMC game.

I never played the Vergil story mode, was his combat better or worse than Donte?

Donte and swearing aside, it was pretty good, actually. Not as good as other DMCs, but still very good.

>>339972776
I remember it being fairly similar. It was cool but it's like 1 hour long. Worth a couple of bucks on sale.

>>
>>339967550
it was worse

while I personally disagree with it, I can also see how compromising high quality gameplay (which the series was known for) can be justified for profit
the thing is, for that to work the presentation had to be top notch

NT was hired to create a polished turd
managed to produce a regular one

I quite liked the night club level, as well as several of the (unused) concept art
that being said, sacrificing my favorite franchise for a bunch of pretty pictures was not a good trade
>>
At best the only thing it might have done well was the camera. In DMC4 the only part where the camera angle was fucking retarded was some jump boosting part where you can't see shit where you're jumping to. I think this was one of the challenge missions.
>>
>>339972776
I thought the Vergil DLC was much better than the main game. He just plays better, has an actual reason for 2 dodge buttons, and less narrative. I actually played it on all difficulties up to heaven and hell unlike DmC where I only cared to play it once.
>>
>Devil may Cry: Devil May Cry fags STILL trying to validate their abortion of a game
>>
It was a bit cheesy in ways, but I kind of liked it - since I wasn't taking the game all that seriously in the first place.

Bad DMC title, but a solid hack and slash otherwise about sums it up for me.
>>
>>339974371
An abortion implies that it was never released.
