My grandmother bought it for me. The game was so heavily reliant on English text that there's no way I could've beaten it as 8-year old, but I remember getting sort of far through trial and error.
I particularly remember Earth level being hard, and flying controls being really annoying to figure out.

It had the first 15 minutes of the game but featured Bart and Ellie jumping in and joining your party.

Yep. It's basically a Zelda clone. There are a lot of cool secrets that you need to come back to, that sorta stuff. There's one important hidden area that you can just walk into anytime, but the trees make it hard to see it and I remember accidentally finding it as a kid and flipping out. Also the game is dark, as in a serious lack of lighting, which can be a pain in the ass a lot.
I don't remember beating this. But I've enjoyed the cute atmosphere.
