I'm going through a crisis. I have money to spend after the 30th and I can only choose one of two pathways.
I can upgrade my shitty phenom ii 965 & 7850 to an i5-2500k w/ mobo and the not yet released AMD 480 which would give me basically double the performance in games and get rid of stutter in certain CPU bound games.
Or I can get a PS4 and basically just get Bloodborne since I'm a total fag for Souls games. But if I got the PS4 it would basically be me just buying a device that is almost the same thing as my current PC in terms of performance / graphics except that I would get to play Bloodborne and other exclusives.
I don't know what to do, I'm not really looking forward to any new PC games except for maybe Overwatch, but I'd be spending only around $360 to make a PC that is way more powerful than the PS4 (2500k $110 on ebay, $40-50 mobo, $200 GPU)
I have no idea what to do. Also having to pay the extra $50 a year for PS+ pisses me off.

How important are the PS4 exclusives to you? Just compare the games you'll pay head on if money isn't an issue. If it is an issue then build the PC since it's cheaper.

The i5 2500k is almost as strong as the memelake i5 6600k and goes pretty cheap used, so you cant go wrong with it.
You can always grab a used PS4 if you want to play exclusives. Prices will probably drop a lot when the PS4 neo is released.

The only for sure game that I want to play is Bloodborne. Other than that maybe the Arkham Knight game and Gravity Rush and future exclusives like The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn, etc.
But I also prefer a nice gamepad over m+kb, so even on my PC I usually stick to my 360 controller for any game that allows it asides from multiplayer FPS.
The Steam controller actually seems interesting with gyro aiming, so maybe that will be a middle ground I can deal with.
PS4 is getting pretty good games now and is definitely worth it for it's current price.
If you upgrade your pc you're basically going to play the same old shit but with higher framerate. At least a PS4 will let you play new relevant releases.
