Not really original but basically the good guy that turns traitor to save what he loves. NV is still open to and respects NCR men and women, but they won't go any further than it. My personal explanation was that during one of his many delivery jobs, the Courier happened a well-preserved basement of an Old World Japanophile, somewhere in Northern NCR territory. Out of curiosity and boredom he took some of the materials, including movie holotapes, comic books, and a fewanime holotapes, hoping at least to use them for bartering or donation to the Followers, but ended up watching and reading them all, because when you're camping out at night, you need SOMETHING to do aside from jerk off and sing along with the radio.

WMX should be included in any NV essentials list, even if you're playing vanilla+.
It adds a bunch of cut weapon mods back into the game. The trail carbine for example was supposed to have 3 mods for it, but they were cut from the game, yet still exist in the files.
If only cars were a thing in that game.

Bethesda survives exclusively off of hype and reputation, and the gradual dumbing down of the series appeals to the run-and-gun generation we have today.
