Just imagine how good Bloodborne could be, if it was made by competent developer, like Obsidian
>Proper lovecrftian plot
>No clear villains, unlike FROM's favorite: church is evil
>Combat would be actually balanced

and boring

also don't forget that it would be an open world RPG!
>>
>>339925325
Don't forget it would be unfinished

Tired of posting New Vegas threads already, anon?

I should've stopped reading after "Obsidian"

Give up, and buy a PS4 already.

I wonder who was behind this post
>>
Bloodborne did totally miss the mark on Lovecraft like everyone else does, but you are full of shit otherwise.
>>
>>339925325

The church isn't evil though. It seems you've completely misunderstood the narrative.
>>
>know nothing about Lovecraft apart from LOL TENTICULEZ

It's not Lovecraftian desu senpai. It's just gothic horror which Lovecraft didn't write.
>>
>>339925987

No it didn't, you're just not familiar enough with Lovecraft's writing to know why.
>>
>>339926183
LOL, sure thing.

Killing Moon Presence invalidates your entire argument.
>>
>>339925325
>>Combat would be actually balanced

More like the combat would be complete shit
>>
>>339926121
The later half is lovecraftian.
A good deal of the plot is just the shadow over innsmith
>>
>>339925325

Well if interred made by anyone other than From it would have sold more than 5 copies
>>
>>339926183
Ok, I'll bite. How does it miss the mark?
>>
>>339926228

Cthulhu got run over by a boat in the original novel. Your move, genius.
>>
>>339926414
He survived and is still going to wake up and kill the world someday.

>the original novel
Oh my God just stop.
>>
>>339925325
They havent made a single good game, what is thepoint of this post?
>>
>>339926579
>He survived and is still going to wake up and kill the world someday.

Irrelevant, Cthulhu was done over by a mundane physical object. He's no unstoppable force. The protagonist in Bloodborne by that point had already consumed three cords anyway and become something other than human, so it's not a big deal when it comes to determining how true it is to the thing it's influenced by.

PORK CHOP SANDWICHES
>>
>>339926812
Yeah, the ability to gain super duper powers to fight the aliens with is staying true to Lovecraftian influences.

Just admit that it's a fantastic game that fell for the Lovecraft = tentacles meme and move on.
>>
>>339926812
>Cthulhu was done over by a mundane physical object
Not him, but good way to miss the point of event
Captain delayed im only on the second, which was enough to stop ritual
Fly can take your attention, doesn't mean that it can kill or hurt you
But of course if game has words like "old gods" it must be lovecraftian
>>
>>339926579
>>339926812
Moon Presence also survived, reduced to a sort of slug form. The Hunter assumes its role as a great one. Which is and isn't lovecraftian. While an entity like Cthulhu couldn't be killed, not only because of its immense power, but also because if it were to die, another old one would fill that power vacuum and essentially become Cthulhu. That said, a human filling that hole isn't terribly lovecraftian.

Just imagine how good a Mcdouble could be, if it was made by a competent fast food chain, like A&W
>proper meat
>great toppings
>would actually taste good
>>
>>339925325
Worth while bait that made form drones and sonyniggers mad/10
You earned this (you) buddy
>>
>>339925325
>church is evil
The church accidentally turned a city into beasts because the use of blood had unforeseen consequences. The college fuckers did almost all the fucked up shit desu senpai. You would know if you played the game
>>
>>339926996
>the town of cult members worshipping old alien gods
>gaining insight just by first laying eyes on bosses
>insight makes you weaker, analogous to knowledge of lovecraftian horrors makes one go insane
>2/3 endings is the player being manipulated by powers beyond their control

Just cause you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
>>
>>339927243
>gaining insight just by first laying eyes on bosses
Yes, this part was made good
But spending insight part was the worst, because it was fucked shit that should increase it
Oh and don't forget, you can't see giant monsters without insight
>>
>>339926996
Well one of the ways was crossbreeding, like in The Dunwich Horror leading to superhuman hybrid and horrible invisible monster brothers. That's also in Bloodborne with Oedon implicitly impregnating female NPCs.

>>339927002
Actually the term used in Bloodborne is Great One, which is used by Lovecraft in The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath to refer to the powerless, stupid gods of the Dreamlands. The Great Ones in that story are looked after by Nyarlathotepn, but then they blunder into the protagonist's dream-city because they like it there, and Nyarlathotep sends the the protagonist to get them back (before just trying to kill the protag instead).

They're different from the Great Old Ones, at any rate.
>>
>>339927403
>leading to superhuman hybrid
Their colony was destroyed, "superhumans" my ass
>>
>>339926414
>the original novel
Stop posting kid.
>>
>>339925987
Why? I think it was a really original take on Lovecraft, while still being respectful to the source material
>>
>>339927460

You're right! Even having eldritch blood couldn't protect them from mortal men in the story.
>>
>>339925325
How come that competent developers make boring games, and Fromsoftware makes GOATs for seven years straight?
>>
>>339927073
>Moon Presence also survived
