Are you ready for Atelier Sophie /v/?
>>
>$60
Not yet.
>>
>>339924242
What's it about?
>>
It's going to be shit just like the last few games in the series have been.
>>
>>339925034
Alchemy
>>
>>339925034
Atelier Sophie is about Sophie's Atelier and her life while running it.
>>
>>339924242
If it's anywhere near as comfy as Shallie, yes.
>>
>>339924242
dropped Shallie because of shit tier alchemy and no time limit

Wont pick this up because of shittier alchemy and no time limit

wont even look at Firris because they never learned from the two (suprise, Shallie and Sophie are the worst selling atelier yet)
>>
>>339924242
She has literally no tits. What good is a girl without an ample bosom?
>>
>>339926316
Anon Sophie is the best selling Atelier to date
>>
Nnno. I don't think so. I played the last 4 and had fun but I'm not ready to spend dosh essentially on the same game again even if it's comfy. Maybe later.

>no time limit
It's so fucking comfy though. Like a warm blanket on a rainy sunday afternoon.
Literally comfort: the game.

I guess time limits should be an option for autists though.
>>
>>339924242
I just hate NISA that didn't give it a Vita physical release but garbage like CG2 got it.
>>
>>339926737
The games constantly reinvent themselves how are they the same game?
>>
>>339926378
A flat-chested girl holds you closer to her heart, anon.
>>
>>339926316
Firis is going to have a time limit though. We know barely anything about it, but we do know that. No idea if it'll be super lax like E&L though.
>>
>>339924909
>not playing on cracked ps3
lul
>>
>>339926850
Same, but limited run games is trying to work with kt to release physical vita ateliers, so we might still get physical english sophie for vita at some point
>>
>>339926316
I love when retards just make shit up. Atelier Sophie was one of the best selling Atelier games ever. Also very well received by the elevens. The new one sounds like it's going to be good as well.
>>
>>339926316
Shallie experimented with a mood system though, which makes combat/alchemy less worthwhile as you spend more time doing it in each chapter. The only complaint I have about Shallie's alchemy was Chains become too easy to obtain and likewise over-powered late game.

Firris supposedly starts with a time limit, then removes it later on.
>>
>>339927258
Firis has you do something and you have to do it within a year and then after that year the time limit is gone.
>>
>>339926316
>Eschalogy and shallie are the worst selling atelier yet
Fixed that for you, because sophie is actually the best selling atelier series ever
>>
>>339927415
People obviously got sick of buying the console version on release and then half a year later rebuying the plus version with new content and all the dlc
>>
>>339927087
FUCK
>>
>>339927370
That sounds really dumb. It'll be enough to scare off the people who don't like time limits, but not enough to please the people who do like managing resources. I mean, yeah, we don't know all the details, but it seems dumb from here.
>>
>>339927541
I don't think it was so much 'sick' of buying the games as splitting which platform people want. Should note that Sophie came out on PSV/3/4 at the same time, so sales numbers include the whole audience.
>>
PC when
>>
>>339927802
Even if you count the plus version from other atelier titles, sophie is still the best
https://www.koeitecmo.co.jp/ir/docs/ird3_20160428.pdf

>>339927415
Not only that dusk trilogies in general are seen as an experimental move from gust, so no wonder some fans didn't like it
>>
Preordered. I hope it's a good atelier. Like what is the theme in this one? Rorona had building your shop, totori had adventuring, Meruru had building arland, Ayesha had saving your sister and so on.
>>
Considering buying this on Vita because I don't have a Ps4 yet and it seems like a comfy game to play on a handheld. It would be my first Atelier too.
>>
>>339929291

>>
Tfw no one wants this shit in england so all the lesser stores are selling preorders for £34~

I'm excited as hell anyway

>>339926316
caring about the timelimit is so dumb, i beat the arland games twice each and the time limit barely comes into play

and in mana khemia it ltierally might as well not be there

Imported Sophie (great game), currently getting hyped for Firis.

Sophie is a fine place to start if you're new to the series, please give Gust more sales.

The time limit influences how you play though. Even if you don't realise it, you act differently to how you would if you had infinite time to do everything.
Also the gameplay MK was bad so I don't know what you're trying to prove by bringing it up.

Really hard to choose. For characters I loved the Arland games (culminating in Meruru, which is great but only if you played the previous two), for atmosphere I thought Ayesha was the best (and it's too bad it didn't go anywhere in E&L and Shallie), for overall system I liked E&L the best. Most relaxing title award goes to Sophie for having no time limits or missables and being cozy as hell.

One of the first games I played when I was learning moon was Atelier Judie, really want to go back and play all the Salburg/Granmad games one of these days.

What would be the best game to get into the series with? I can understand enough Japanese to probably play the Japanese only games, but I honestly don't feel like blowing $70+ to import them.
>>
>>339932065
Rorona+ (make sure it's that version)
and then just move along as far as you can be bothered

Sophie is an okay place to start too, you won't lose any story since it's a new trilogy.

Mana Khemia duo are good too if you just want to emulate them and see how you enjoy alchemy in your games etc. but they are extremely different from the PS3/Vita games

I started with atelier totori for ps3 and fell in love with the series. Played all the sequels after that too. Couldnt go back to rorona though, it just feels a little too dated

Rorona Plus. It's one of the better games in general as well as being a good starting point.

Really glad that Sophie did well, because Shallie (probably rightfully) flopped hard. Was worried Gust might go under for a while.

Sophie's selling really well and even the notoriously picky assholes at amazon jp reviews like it. Also, the price is still very high for a 9 month old game, generally a good sign.

I just realised that Gust's Japanese sites all seem to refer to Ayesha/Escha and Logy/Shallie as the Twilight series, rather than Dusk.

No, Gust themselves switch regularly between 'Twilight' and 'Dusk' on their own materials when writing it in romaji. In JP it's always 黄昏 but in English either one is fine and they use both.
>>
>>339932612
This is the stuff that is a bit confusing for me. Is there a difference between the plus edition on the PS3 and the + edition on the Vita? I was planning to get a Vita almost solely for Zero Escape so it wouldn't be too bad to have some other games for it.
>>
>>339929291
That's fine. It'd be an okay place to start.

>>339930442
He doesn't have to. New trilogy and all.
>>
>>339935143
Oh, so they do. I should have looked further before talking.
They really should have used Twilight for the English release instead of Dusk. Twilight sounds a lot better.
>>
>>339935207
Rorona plus is the only plus game with the same content on vita and ps3. All the other plus games have more content than the ps3 games. Shallie+ looks to be the last plus game as Sophie released on vita day 1 with ps4
>>
I'll wait and see if the localization is as bad as KT's last few Atelier localizations have been. There was some huge gameplay system in Shallie that didn't even work for a while.

Most impressive new feature of Sophie: The camera zooms in to Sophie's POV when you talk to NPCs, so you can more accurately experience what it's like to be a short, cute alchemist girl. I think they fucked up the heights though because Logy towers over Sophie even though he's not that tall.
>>
sure am glad this game will never release on pc, it would toroughly destroy any decent discussions
Wich sophie would you atelier ?
>>
>>339935407
That's because they use NISA rejects for localisation.

Thankfully, if they fucked up names or made bad crashing bugs like in Shallie, whining to KT will surely make them do something about it.
>>
>>339935523
That's sounds really fun
Who is best girl? Is fagget Logy a fun character?
>>
>>339935407
>>339935582
I can't believe the series escaped NISA's grasp to end up somewhere worse.
>>
>>339935116
According to them, most of the install base for the game outside of Japan should have moved onto the PS4 or Vita at this point, so they're pushing hard on mainly the PS4. They don't wanna upset Vita owners either, so digital only was done on that end.
>>
>>339935696
>Worse
Even though there are shitty mistakes like text escaping boxes I'll take that over ESTY DEE DUDE any day.
>>
When is the EU release?
>>
>>339935739
They don't want to upset vita owners because they want us to buy Shallie+ limited editions when they make them next year.
I'll be very surprised if Firis comes over for vita next year.
>>
>>339935823
Esty Dee was retarded, but even so KT's localizations have unquestionably been worse. Weird text glitches, terminology randomly switching for a chapter and then switching back, several NPCs where the dialogue is still Japanese, messing up a description for every assignment in Rorona+, etc. You honestly don't get much worse than KT's Atelier localizations in modern game localizations.
>>
>>339936076
>You honestly don't get much worse than KT's Atelier localizations in modern game localizations.
In that way? Maybe not besides the shit that Bamco hires.

But otherwise? NISA still loves their censorship and each game is also a gamble on the part of "does it crash fuckloads / will they fix it?"

Or Atlus' Persona localisation with their honorific garbage.
>>
>>339935868
Friday.
>>
KT leave the localization of Atelier to Acctil, or was that only for Escha?
>>
How is Sophie compared to Shallie? I was pissed that they stopped using Hidari as char design so I didn't pay much attention to the news.

Why? hidari already got dusk trilogies, it's about time they switched the character designer, just like mel with arland trilogies before her

if you like hidari design, you can look forward to toukiden 2, and i think games like toukiden suits her art better, her design always have this sephia colors in it, it have this gloomy feels in it, it fits perfectly with toukiden worlds

Do I need to have played any of the previous games? Never played an Atelier game before.
>>
>>339940862
no not at all
you will basically be getting the same experience as everyone else since it's a new story and there's no time limit anymore so you don't even need to know what to do
>>
>>339940862
If you have an interest in the series, there's really no reason not go back and play the Arland games.

Especially since they'll probably be cheaper anyway.
>>
>>339940989
Sweet, thanks. Will probably be picking it up sometime then.
>>
I got the Atelier+ collection on vita
What order should I play them?
>>
>>339941352
Totori, then rorona then meruru

But the actual order is R > T > M
>>
>>339941352
Rorona+ > Totori+ > Meruru+
>>
>>339941352
Rorona, Totori, Meruru
>>
>>339924242
no time limit, no buy
>>
>>339942272
What a coincidence.

I don't buy Atelier games with time limits anymore.
>>
>>339942462
so buy this game, i have no idea why you needed to tell me that or are you just self conscious?

how does that apply to my post?

That's autistic as fuck.
>>
>>339924242
Why did they remove the time limit again? It seems that I always see people bitch about the time limit since they want to do everything in one playthrough and dont do NG+. Hell, I love the time limit since it encourages fast work and no screwing around which some people cant wrap their head around. I remember some guy said he couldnt past the third assignment in rorona plus and I just dont get it

>>

It depresses me that this game will likely run like fucking shit and look like a reverse anus on the vita
>>
>>339943156
I've hated time limits since Majora's Mask, and with that it was only really a formality. While I've never actually had trouble with a time limit in an Atelier game, I simply don't enjoy the lingering stress of it eventually coming up which limits how much time I can spend in this location, or how many battles I can fight here. I want to play the game my way, not have it dictated to me by an arbitrary counter that nitpicks and nags me for every flower I pick up.
>>
>>339943375
But Feris is the new Totori. Unless you're a waifu autist that will be biased as fuck to everything else since you waifu Totori.
>>
>>339943640
ok, i understand that is just too much for you
i personally like the idea that the littlest things you do can affect you so you decide to do it or not
now, i dont know why you would dislike majora since its like 3 days and you can just reset and get most of your stuff back
atelier is waiting until a new playthrough and you're stronger
>>
>>339943662
no, those clown shoes ruin the design for me
>>
>>339924242
Is this still part of the Dusk series? I don't know why, but compared to Arland I just can't seem to get into it as much. I couldn't even finish a single route in Shallie's game. What changed that made this game so well received?

Shame that this comes out the same day as Odin Sphere though.
>>
>>339943848
>atelier is waiting until a new playthrough and you're stronger

That's another thing. I never replay games immediately after I beat them regardless of whether they're designed to be replayed or not. There's at least a year or two between playthroughs for me at the least, so yes, I want to experience everything on a single playthrough to feel like my purchase was warranted.

It should be part of a new trilogy. New setting, story, characters, etc.

But that raises a question. What would the trilogy be called? "The mysterious ____?"
>>
>>339944036
It's not, Dusk ends with shallie

Sophie is a part of the new trilogy, mysterious trilogy
>>
>>339944198
well ok, since you dont like doing a new playthrough completely then i completely understand but
> I want to experience everything on a single playthrough to feel like my purchase was warranted.
how much does a first playthrough last? i think it is warranted by the end and you can just return later and see all the new stuff that you missed so its like a slightly different game. Its a great deal especially if you wait when the games get cheap. i usually wait until they are $20
>>
>>339944392
It's just the Mysterious trilogy. Sophie is 'Alchemist of the Mysterious Book' and Firis is 'Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey'

I don't think I'll get any help here, but I figure it's worth a shot. So I'm trying to get the DLC to work on jailbroken PS3 for Ayesha. I have the .pkg and rap files in a folder, but does anyone know what I'm suppose to do then?

>>
>>339946521
It's basically like how pamela was in multiple atelier games that weren't related to each other.
>>
>>339946521
It's not the same character on a literal level. As in, he doesn't have the memories and experiences that E&L Logy had.
He just has the same name and face.
>>
>>339946582
>>339946621
Pamela had some fun scenes in Arland, and some plot relevant in Totori too. Does Logy get those, or is he literally just a weapon vendor?

>>
>>339924242
I just preordered Sophie. Haven't played any since Totori though.

One thing that bothers me A LOT in Sophie's English version, is how stretched the text is. What's up with that?

Nisa reject localisation.

If you want Firis to get brought over on Vita next year then make sure you buy Sophie on Vita next week.
I don't think it would make sense to release Shallie in January for Vita but then not release Firis in June for Vita.
>>
Is it easy to do everything in this one? I'm planning to play it once on vita and then go for the platinum when I get a PS4.

So how is Atelier Shallie? been wanting to play it since I really enjoyed Escha and Logy but hearing the PS3 version is much inferior than the Vita Plus version but don't have a Vita

I read that as wife. Now I'm disappointed.
>>
>>339955056
Vita version will add a lot more endgame stuff including Ayesha and Logy as playable characters. If PS3 is your only choice though, it's fine. It doesn't really wrap up the series well but it's still a fun adventure.
>>
>>339955056
It's not very conclusive for the final game in the Dusk trilogy.
I still liked it though.

Thankfully it was fine after I closed out and started the game again, but I've never seen anything like this outside of PC.
