I played Re;Birth 1, I thought it was pretty boring and the cutscenes went for much longer than they should have.
It takes a person just 10 minutes to learn that you can cheese the game by just keeping your healer in the back safe from the enemies range and just heal/buff whenever necessary while they stay in a defensive stance the majority of all fights.
I thought the beat em' up spin-off was a far better version of the Neptunia world.
Nep VII > Rebirth 3 > Rebirth 1 > Rebirth 2

The characters are somewhat fun.
The mechanics and balance are as barebones as you get, but polished to a great extent.
If you enjoy JRPGs because of their world and exploration you won't like the games.
But they are absolutely right for casual grinding.
Every single small animation is skippable.
Battles are fast, menus are fast, no traveling time between dungeons and just many, many small and easy stuff like that makes them really competent mindless grinding games.

The first game has pretty shallow gameplay. After a handful of hours you just spam the same tactics over and over, and you just grind to beat the stupid bosses. Really wanted to complete the game since it was pretty comfy and had cute girls but it got boring, hate the whole system and how you have to craft the map to the next dungeon or whatever the fuck, and to craft its just more grinding.
Heard the sequels are slightly betterbut thats it. The girls are cute and the story is fine but its a mystery to me even with that how this series became even a moderate success

The humour gets very repetitive after you've heard the same damn jokes for an entire game (and being JRPG, of course the games are very long). The gameplay is pretty easy compared to other stuff in the genre, that can be a bad or good thing depending on the person.
So I'd say meme. But still enjoyable if you play in short bursts.

It is the shallowest kind of jrpg.
You start off on the map screen and select and an area to go to. I guess a real world map woyld have takeb too much effort. Anyway, youll enter some grassland level and start fighting enemies. The enemies dont even try to engage you, of course, so youre more than likely just chasing after them for xp. Battle system is okay but tbe real problem is with these areas. Theyre all the same. EVERY. FUCKING. ONE. If youre lucky, youll notice they bothered to change the skybox and the floor texture but most of the time youll be in generic grasslands. At this point you might think its like a joke, but no, the characters make no mention of it and believe me they take every opportunity to make fun of gaming tropes. Whatever.
So you proceed through an area more linear than FFXIII (this is not an exaggeration, in fact FFXIII has some areas that are more open) amd reaxh the boss. Whats he boss? Half the time its a recolor of the basic enemy or an enemy scaled up. No effort. Youll get a unique design if its a story mission but youll have to do a lot of grinding on these other ones first.

Anyway, once you beat a couple areas, youll start to notice that they also all have the same layout. You know in .hack how all the areas are using cookie cutter rooms and hallways to build levels procedurally? Its not even that, all the areas are about four "rooms"/hallways and half of the areas are an old area in reverse or the start point is in a different room. After the 3rd area you stop looking forward to new content.
Anywah, its all pretty monotonous. In betweem story missions youll have downtime to craft or do quests. The quests suck, all just stuff like defeat 10 dogoos. Common MMO fare. The worst thing about them is it means youll play the same area about 5 times over to complete them all and most of the time youll have to repeat a quest several times over to get items they really should have made available to buy in the shop. You need items, too. This isnt like other games where you can tough out being underleveled. You are either able to beay the boss easily or have to spam revive items because the cant take any damage. I guess its supposed to be hardcore.
