What is a reasonable price to pay for a pre-built gaming pc? $800?

I don't know enough to build my own and I don't want to go get scammed at Best Buy.

Can you even wipe your own ass or does your mother do it for you?
>>
>>339845642

really doesn't take long to learn. Just makes sure you have an amd cpu and an nvidia gpu. don't worry abouut hdd's or ssd's your ram will take care of all that.
>>
The more you pay the better it will be. 1000 to 1500 is usually pretty good.

>>339845824
Building a computer is literally a google search away, if you know how to put a Lego set together you can build a PC.

That being said my friend paid about that for one a few years ago and he is still using it, works well.
>>
>>339845642

Don't go for a pre-build. It is rip off. Just check up on the internet on how to build your own.
>>
>>339845642
To put in perspective:
Building an 800 dollar pc yourself would cost about 1200 pre built.

You get charged out the ass for not doing it yourself
>>
building is a lot easier than you think it might be, but even if you are committed to not doing it yourself a site like ncix has a service that will take the parts you ordered from them and build it for you. you might end up having to put the gpu in yourself but that is super easy

i don't remember how much it costs but i imagine it's still cheaper than paying the prebuilt markup
>>
Alright, I'll try to build my own.

What's a Tflop?
>>
>>339845642

If you build it yourself, you can get something pretty good and get more power. Why wouldn't you want more power?

If you go pre built, you can say byebye to 200 bucks going towards the pre built premium

Either way new vidya cards soon so sit tight and wait 1-2 months they already announced it.

Just get a RX 480 when it comes out, and buy a aftermarket CPU cooler
>>
If you're too much of a puss to build yourself, atleast the pick the parts yourself and have someone assemble it for you for $100 or so. Never EVER consider a prebuilt
>>
>>339846685

A tflop is literally just a theoretical way of measuring performance. It's a guess but there's a lot more factors that apply.

When are you looking to built anyways?

Right now the rx 480 is looking good but won't be out till the end of the month. As for cpu an i5 should do right.

There are new cpus coming by end year that can lower the price and save you a hundred bucks/get you way more performance. But that's a way off.
>>
If I build something for $400, could it run most games on medium 60 or high 60?
>>
>>339847387
My graphics card alone costs more than $400.

>>339847565

He actually can

The rx 480 will be around 200 bucks. I guess the issue is the cpu and other parts but I can't be assed to do a build. I'm guessing it would go to 450 bucks for high/ultra 1080p at 60 fps.

Ideally he'd want to wait for zen to get more power at a lower price but that's at the end of the year.

Start here. Then look some recent PC building tutorial on Youtube. You can also search for different budget builds there.

Intel CPU + Nvidia GPU = true mustard.
Pirate W7 Ultimate; W10 is literal cancer. You can start using Vulkan with future releases soon.

Depends on the components.

I've seen videos of people building a Dark Souls 3 PC with mere 200$, running it and games like CS:GO at 1080p, high, 60fps (and more).

Something like pic related would be more than enough for most games. Replace the GPU with 950, and you get even better results.
>>
>>339846183
it takes like a day to brush up on specs. You also already have the knowledge to put it together(presumably), so there's no really convincing reason to pay someone else to do it for you.

Even if you don't know how, basically everything is color coded or specifically shaped. Computers are idiot proof now.

any of the assfaggots meme games and CSGO, that GPU is surprisingly good. It may have some problems running new games at decent graphical quality, but lowering settings and resolution will get you far.
>>
>>339847774
There's no way.
The Cpu + gpu alone will be 400+
Minimum Cpu you should get is an i5 4xxx
Anything lower and you won't run anything on medium settings even.

Ram is around 40
Mobo is around 50
Psu around 50
Hdd for 30
Plus a case

And that's the bare minimum.

You could do it for 650 if you get used parts or wait for sales, but it wouldn't last you long
>>
>>339845642
>pre-built
Just get the parts and pay a nerd to assemble it for you. Even if he charges $100, you're still saving money.
>>
>>339845642
>I don't know enough to build my own

Yes you do. If you ever played with legos or tinker toys or anything similar as a child, then you know enough to put your own computer together.

Now whether or not the computer is good or not...that depends on what components you have. But putting them together is piss easy.

>>

what the fuck all can this one run?
how does any of this make sense?
>>
>>339849759
Using amd processor is a mistake imo.
The 750 ti is OK but it definitely won't run das3 60 fps on medium settings without dropping frames
>>
>>339852235
Yeah, that build isn't very futureproof with that cpu, but it'll do gaming well
>>
Do I have to watch out when buying cases? I heard there are different sizes so your motherboard doesen't fit or something.
>>
>>339852235
The athlons are good for sure, but not optimized for gaming.

It's a glorified phenom/pentium instead of a multithread Cpu like intel.

You will see massive slowdowns playing on this
>>
>>339852581
Just go to PC part picker, PC autists basically jerk each other off about part lineups there and will pretty much build one for you.
>>
>>339852581
I personally care about case aesthetics and after building multiple PCs with absolute dogshit quality cases that have horrible cable management support, bad HDD mounting solutions and are ugly as hell, I'd recommend a good 60-160$ case that will serve you for a really long time
>>
>>339852581
just don't get a Micro ATX case and you're fine
>>
>>339853235
unless you want a smaller case and you are ready to deal with space constraints while building/upgrading
>>
budgetfags SHOULD wait for zen cpus

Everything in ultra as long as you put a 480 in it.

Everything in mid-high with a 380.

>futureproof
Retard.
And learn about PCs, you don't need an i7 to play games faggot, CPUs are mostly irrelevant as long as it's decent enough.

>>339852739
>The athlons are good for sure, but not optimized for gaming.
DX12 made them better, and for older games you don't need a cpu more powerful, unless it's badly optimized.

>It's a glorified phenom/pentium instead of a multithread Cpu like intel.
The 880 is good though, and with DX12 it uses it's power better, just like every other Athlon.
>You will see massive slowdowns playing on this
No you won't. Learn about PCs, you don't need an i7 to play games.

>>
>>339853570
Yeah, the CPU selection on the market is pretty bad right now. AMD CPUs are pretty shitty and Intel costs too much for a budgetfag. I bought a 4790k a few years back and it's funny to see how little the new CPUs have improved.

literally anything.
Obviously not too well above 1080p, and no modern title on Ultra + all bells and whistles, but it definitely can do medium-high combos in most games.

>figure out what processor you want
>match that processors socket with a motherboard you want - do about 5 min of research on chipset
>match that motherboard with the ram you want
>pick out video card
>get the same asus cd rom everyone has
>get a sata hard drive, ssd if you feel like doing another whopping 5 minutes of research
>get around 750w PSU - even this is probably overkill, prefereably gold rated, decide on fully modular, semi modular, not modular
>pick out literally any mid tower case and theres a 99 percent chance it will fit everything

assembly
>its basically tool free with maybe a couple phillips screws
>caution: don't do windsprints on carpet wearing wool socks beforehand

i feel like this is a pretty comprehensive guide to building a pc. not difficult.
>>
>>339854256
Disc drives are obsolete, I literally only used mine to install windows that I could have installed from a USB stick
>>
>>339854425
disc drives are also 20 dollars and it doesn't hurt to have one. all my negro friends bought mid tower cases but didn't want to buy a rom drive but all eventually bought external shitty ones because eventually theres one time you want to use a disk.

apparently they think a rom drive is unattractive an ruins the aesthetics. i don't get it.
>>
>>339853804

By Q4 this year

That rx480 paired with a budget zen gpu might be bretty good.

I just can't suggest an i3. It tanks fps in some modern games and the amd budget currently are worse. People should get an i5 minimum atm.

For budgetfags who want something at 400. Zen is the only hope. Otherwise you'll be hit hard by bottlenecks just like consoles are atm.

Googling 860k 960 proves that inaccurate. That CPU is fantastic.

Reminder to trawl clearance sales and store newsletters for discounts before making any final decisions on parts as well as look for parts with games attached since you can just toss the key on ebay for an extra 50 bucks off
