The interesting thing this time around, and this is just a theory, is that Vegeta usually 'jobs' to show just how strong the new enemy is. He loses and then Goku shows and does his thing.
But this time around, Vegeta jobbed very early, to two different things, Hit, and the purple slime.
So my theory is that the 2 (currently known) gods of destruction are going to job to Goku Black, which is the entire reason why so much time was spent setting them up as stronger than everyone.
On the subject of Vegeta himself, I think its possible that he might finally be used for something other than failing. His weakness has always been that he doesn't have the massive amount of training that Goku got from human martial artists, Karin, the former Kami, and the Kai. If something humbles him so much that he starts following the teachings of others, he could become more than a sidekick.
