removing hero switching would break the game, we'd see even less variety than we already do, but the playerbase should realize that sometimes it's better to stick with an imperfect character choice just to build ult then to switch every minute as the combat situation changes.

Tracer and Junkrat are the only heroes I ever feel like I make particularly skilful plays with.
Roadhog I don't even play as a tank, I play him as a flanker on maps that have multiple routes. His sustainability means he can often harass the enemy backline and keep multiple people tied up while getting a few kills, making it much easier for your frontline to push forward.
I like Lucio's kit more than Zenyatta's, but I cannot stand using Lucio's Mouse1, so I prefer Zenyatta purely on the basis that his Mouse1 actually feels like a weapon.

I believe switching is fine for quick play. However, I feel that ranked matches would be more fun with one pick for each of the three rounds. So you could switch team composition between rounds.

Because Lucio's play style is about knowing when to heal, when to speed boost, when to amp, when to hang back and when to help push up. He won't outheal Mercy except if the entire team is stacked up taking small tick damage. They do different things and are best used together.

The way I play is that I always go in, and lock the hero I really WANT to play right away. Then I wait and see how my team fills out.
If my team has any clear weaknesses (no support/tank/sniper) I change to accommodate.
Just always make sure no one else is more eager to do so, and you'll end up playing your number 1 pick most of the time.
