The Igavanias are essentially Dark Souls+Metroid.
Perhaps a summon system could work for Metroid. Say Samus gets trapped on another planet with alternate dimensions. And the intelligent race of that planet built devices capable of bridging dimensions. Then Samus could call upon other Samuses for help. or, perhaps the Samuses in the other dimensions become corrupt, so they try to kill all the other Samuses. So essentially, you could be good or bad, or morally gray.
Also, more armor customization might be nice.

Castlevania + Metroid = Metroidvania AKA "Igavania". Named after the guy who spearheaded the development of that formula.
The Dark Souls came out, and it was essentially an Igavania in 3D.
So you see, Dark Souls already shares a large influence from Metroid. Which makes the idea of Dark souls + Metroid largely redundant.
