It's just hidden from view until you complete their 'registration' which is really just confirming to them that the ghost account theyve made for you is accurate.
Ghost account, you say? Well, if you've ever used a site that has FBs api embedded (like buttons, share buttons) then you have an extremely persistent and always watching tracker supercookie on your machine. This gathers all the juicy info that FB wants to know and wants to sell to third parties like advertisers and even the federal government or your local government when they are served papers to hand over data. They know your real name (and thus know when you are using a fake name to create an FB account), phone number, address, all that shit. They also grab your browsing habits, your purchase habits, basically anything there is to know about your digital life, they know.
