Does anyone else REALLY like Dark Souls 2? I get that it changed a lot of stuff and yadda yadda, everything critics say about it is true like the lighting is shit and enemy tracking is crap and all that. But it's still a great game and the narrative is really interesting. I want them to do a Dark Souls 4 which is a sequel to DS2 in the same vein that Dark Souls 3 is a sequel to DS1. We still don't know what Vendrick stole from the Giants; we still don't know how many Children of Dark there were; we still don't know what became of the Cursed Undead after he gathered the four crowns and halted the effects of the curse. Even a sequel where you play as Vendrick would be awesome.

Yeah, and DaS2 completely misunderstood what the cycle was, and decided that everything you do in DaS was meaningless because it'll happen again and again with the same souls and events. I like how they tried to move things on with characters studying the curse, but making the plot entirely about the curse and your player trying to cure himself was odd, especially given 1's themes of prophesy and shepherding.
3's ending confirms for me that 2's idea of cycles is deeply flawed, since linking the fire just brings your ember to a small flame, it's nothing like reigniting another age of fire for civilizations to rise and fall, you're just kindling for the flame to keep things going as they are for a bit.
I'm still puzzling out what it actually means to link the fire, given that most of the lords are pretty strong, while Ludleth is a lump of sentient charcoal. Plus the prince refusing to link the flame, but already being a lord of cinder, I hope it's not intentionally contradictory.

This guy kicks everyone's ass, is constantly reminded of how powerful he is, the most powerful entities in the universe accede to his power, all his "flaws" are played as strength, has lived for centuries, is a super-scientists, a superhero, and best of all is the developer's self-insert and was voiced by him.
THIS is a Mary Sue. Nothing in Dark Souls has jack shit on this. A liked, competent character making a noble sacrifice is not a fucking mary-sue.

He's a strong warrior who did all he could to fight back the Abyss and failed, what argument is there to be made? Are noble people with good intentions Mary Sues now? Does every character need to have some irredeemable flaw to not be a Mary Sue now? I mean god damn.
