Beat the campaign as Dorfs, Empire, and VC. VC most fun, Empire can be frustrating with being first line defence against the Skaeling, Varg, and Chaos armies. Dorf was by far the easiest, all I had to do was disrupt the orcs and wait for chaos to get close to my mountains.

Why don't the units individually fight each other anymore? How was this in Shogun 2 then promptly fucking removed in Rome 2. Those little individual duels in the midst of two armies clashing was great and now all you get are units using attacks on either thin air or against another unit that doesn't fucking even react or interact with the actual combat. Even archers have no real impact after a volley. Shit is disappointing as fuck.

OP said ESSENTIAL
>>
>>339686238

Bullshit. It was in Rome 2 and Attila and everyone hated it. It's shit because it meant a numerical advantage didn't mean a lot when your units could only fight 1v1 instead of ganging up on enemies.

It only works for Shogun because that was actually how shit worked in samurai battles.
>>
>>339686145

>Essential
>>
>>339686238
>Why don't the units individually fight each other anymore

1. Becuase everybody always complained about it

2. Too hard to do those duels with all the different model skeletons for the various races
>>
>>339686238
There are still some 1 on 1 duels from lords and monsters special killing animations, they're just a lot harder to trigger. Also they removed them because people had been complaining endlessly about them, specially in Shogun 2 where one single unit could last a lot longer against overwhelming odds because every single kill took forever to end. Not to mention wanting to run down a unit and having even your cavalry stop to make some flips and tricks just to stab the guy.

Having said that, I think the game that did this worst of all was actually Medieval 2, where the animations were the longest and triggered way too easily.
>>
>>339686505
Fuck off Warhammer fanboy shill faggot, matched combat is a necessity for these games.

>>
>>339686641
Didn't know people complained about it. Was something I always enjoyed. Issues with different model skeletons does make sense though. I just hate zooming into the combat and watching my unit swing into empty air or the enemy's back and them not even reacting.

>>339686704
I never really noticed units taking forever to kill due to the matched combat outside of heroes and generals who are supposed to be cream of the crop anyway. Most units routed well before they were completely killed off anyway.

Honestly I just wish there was some general matched combat. It doesn't even have to be special pretty princess look at me duels but at least some actual interaction. Individual unit combat has been lackluster for me since Rome when they would just swing away and random enemy units would die.

Press space bar
>>
>>339688070
meant Rome2, not Rome.

Again though even the missile units outside of artillery feel weak as fuck. It just feels less visceral. I wish I still had my old screenshot from Shogun 2 of a single samurai left in their unit charging towards several units of archers and turning into a pincushion as they died. Haven't seen shit like that in my hours of Rome 2 and TW:W.

Don't get me wrong. It's still an alright game. Just pretty much my biggest gripe with the series since Rome2

That would have been a reasonable thing to scream.

The order in which we received information was

>No mod support, GW will not allow it
>The game will have Denuvo, editing the game in the ways that we are able(without mod support) will be disallowed by Denuvo
>We convinced GW to give the game mod support under certain conditions
>>
>>339684036
>If the fighting isn't turn-based it's an RTS
lol no. TW is a hybrid between turn based strategy and real time tactics, the strategy in an rts comes from base building, economy, and force management.
>>
>>339688475
I have 250ish hours from doing campaigns and don't recall a single time that happened. Pretty sure flanking and overwhelmed debuffs apply to the single unit anyway if that happened. Even then I still prefer that to what we have with warhammer where you might as well not even watch the units fight for how surprisingly mundane and dull it is.

How much do you guys think CA is going to try to charge for gore dlc this time around? I'm betting 10 bucks.
>>
>>339688994
The first time they did it, it was a $1.50. The second time it was $3. Last time it was $4. It'll be at least $5, but I'd bet $7 or $8. The Chaos pack is $8 now.
>>
>>339688819
>editing the game in the ways that we are able(without mod support) will be disallowed by Denuvo
Except they never said this, liar. Within hours of Denuvo being discovered by the community and a ridiculous uproar, CA released a Denuvo Q&A that stated modding wasn't affected by Denuvo.

So no, it was NEVER a reasonable thing to scream. It was just a kneejerk reaction from someone who never bothered to educate themselves on the subject.

Radious, of course.
>>
>>339691085
I'm not stating that they did say that. I'm listing the steps in which we received information
Denuvo fucking with mods is only based on experiences with other programs using Denuvo

It also specifically was not within hours. We learned of Denuvo's inclusion while CA were concentrating on some event. They released a statement reminding people not to leap to conclusions and that they would clear up details on what Denuvo will affect more formally in a few days.
>>
>>339691428
My mistake; you're right, the official Q&A was a day or two later, because it was the weekend and they were at some event.

However, a CA employee replied to the thread on reddit revealing that Warhammer was protected by denuvo within hours of its posting and said it does not and will not prevent modding. Any hysteria over it preventing mods should have ended there.
