Hello, I'm here to say that I've played through FC and am currently playing through SC and this is undeniably one of my favorite JRPG series' ever. Some fights are kinda bullshit, but the game is fun, the story is fantastic, the characters are great, and the world building is done so well I forgot it was a JRPG.

I don't know, I might. I need to play the first two still. Was going to play them in English because what little I've played of FC (just up to completing the test in the sewers and watching Cassius leave, it was just a little test run), the localization seems great. I even watched a video of the Evo version up to that point and nothing too crazy was done to the dialogue except one bit that was more liberal than anything else I'd seen in that small portion. But I've heard that the localizers fuck with Estelle's character in SC, so I might play them in Nip, and if that's the case, it'll probably be a year from now as after 30 something games in Japanese (most of them being JRPGs) in less than two years, I'm a bit tired of them.

It's hard to say. I've heard people say good things about a shit localization and vica versa. It's also hard to judge a localization by the beginning of the game. The localization is good with a few minor exceptions. The original script of FC that's in the PSP version is bad. It was rushed as fuck and only had a single editor and one freelance translator. That's been mostly fixed in the PC version of the game. The translation is good, and most of the stuff CF fucked up was fixed by Xseed's editors, with one exception being a certain villain, where half of her lines are made 10x edgier than they're supposed to be in the localization making her sound like comic Doomguy at times.

That's pretty common. I didn't realize just how common until I learned to read Japanese and started translating myself. I'm willing to make changes in order to sound more natural, I don't care if I have to change sentences a bit or even names to make sure it sounds good, but I never do more than I need to. I know some people who, while they're very good translators when they want to be, sometimes basically turn to re-writting some things because it's more fun. I entertainment localizers do it for the same reasons, and it seems many of them are barely supervised and can do whatever they want, so they figure, why the fuck not? And some of them just want to be writers but suck at it, so they try to achieve their goal by shitting all over localizations, like Plus Alpha.

I honestly feel so relieved that I got Sen1&2 instead of Cold Steel's Lionheart edition. After playing the game in japanese and then comparing it to the lines of the english version made me cringe. Jusis and Gaius seem fine but everyone else felt like they got a 4kids treatment and/or sounded way more edgy than before.
Millium and Towa completely lose their charm with an English voice and Fie goes from "I don't mind/ Serah, you're too ____." to "Whatever/hands off."
I've also had no problem with Horie Yui's Alisa but after seeing how her lines were handled in english I can see why so many people are annoyed by her

Falcom's not developing anything expressly for PC right now, or in the near-future. They're having a hard time adapting to multiple Sony consoles, so their programmers have their hands tied. The general consensus is that SC is unmatched in terms of storytelling.

It seems to me that Trails detractors tend to focus on the fact that there isn't a whole lot about Trails that is particularly new or unique. The thing is that kind of misses the point. Trails takes the same things you see in other JRPGs and perfects them. The series takes them to another level. There aren't any traditional side quests in 3rd like in FC/SC/CS1. I'm pretty sure the person that made that and others have said that the "side content" in that picture for 3rd are the "optional" memory doors. Anyways, people that tend to like 3rd, like it because it's mostly story telling with dungeon crawling. There isn't any questing. IIRC there is one type of memory door are the only ones that are required to advance the story. There are three (star,moon,sun)

This I can see, specially with how a lot of the technologies Ouroboros like to use like the mechs will probably start becoming more common place after Sen 2 and that will lead to further shifts in the status quo in the region.
