I just never had as much fun in GTA3 as I did in GTA2. People kept raving on about the graphics and details, like "every street looks unique" or whatever, but all I saw was lackluster gameplay. GTA2 might not have been the best example of its kind, but it was more fun to fuck around in than any of its sequels. The top-down perspective worked great for the driving and shooting that the game had to offer, whereas the third-person shooting in 3 is just... not as good as in any dedicated TPS, not is the driving worth a damn compared to any actual driving game. And while that might seem like an unfair comparison, 3 felt like a jack of all trades that ended up a bland mess, while 2 was just a fun arcade game through and through.

Really really good. And it kind of had it all - over the top missions, kill frenzies, nonsensical radio adverts, strapping bombs and machineguns to your car, stereotype gangs. But later on, GTA traded all this fun for muh serious gameplay. Which is why the best GTA in the series is 2. And the second-best GTA isSaint's Row 2.

There was no reason to not drive on the sidewalks all the time, or just shoot people randomly for points, as your wanted status got cleared by pretty much everything story related. Without any consequences, what's the point of breaking the law? Also the city was boring, the cover system stupid, most weapons dull, the gimmicky missions got tired fast, and the jokes/references all felt forced.
