I mean games that you go-to when you're wanting to listen to an album/podcast, but still pay attention to it. I dont like to sit and just look at nothing while Im listening to something, so I usually play a game that is replayable and that I know like the back of my hand so I can play it while being able to pay attention to whatever im listening to

FTL captains edition mod with extended pursuit for the true FTL experience
It basically adds shit and makes the game last 10 times longer and a true space exploration game instead of sanic run away and grab anything you can

Oops, just realized you are looking for single player games.

In that case, I'd recommend the following:

- Brogue
- Civilization V
- Unreal Tournament 99/2004 (botmatch)
- Mount and Blade: Warband
- Doom

I can come back to these games anytime, and never get bored.

I don't care much about replayability these days. Novelty is what I crave

If I was forced to only play games I've played before, I'd probably play games for a few hours a year
>>
>>339567251

guy you replied to here, I just JUST finished Bayonetta one in like two sittings after and OH BOY i'm losing it.

Bought the two games after enjoying playing Bayo in smash and I feel like I found a drug everyone has been shooting up but me.

About to start Bayo 2 and i'm in goddamn heaven. It looks like it even has some sort of online co-op??

why is this a thing? why are you playing games that are so bad you need another form of entertainment at the same time to make up for it?

Anything arcade style where you can try for a different path or score, like Starfox or Sonic

It's not that I don't love these games but games about ranking the player stress me out too much to be infinitely replayable for me. Instead I will play obsessively for weeks to 100% S-rank them and then put them down forever.

Something that I could replay an infinite amount of times would be more like an easier game that I can just try with different techniques every time, like Kirby.
>>
>>339577374
I need to play this more, I bought it because I'm a huge fan of the artists work and I love procedurally generated platformers.

If any anons like Catacomb Kids/Spelunky I highly recommend Vagante. It's in Early Access, so if you're not cool with that shit wait for the full release or find a torrent of it somewhere.

I would've posted Spelunky but OP beat me to the punch, it's my go to game to just fucking play. When I'm playing Spelunky I enter a fucking zen state where I can listen carefully to and hold conversations well, while my hands automatically play the game themselves. For whatever reason it's the only game that I can do this with.
>>
Just download MAME, chuck on some relaxing music and play Outrun.
That game is perfect and just makes you feel free while you're playing it.
Alternatively, chuck on some really fast-paced rock music and play Crazy Taxi (Arcade map on Arcade rules). If you get good, you can play for over an hour on a single turn.
If you don't get good, you'll have a good five minutes of fun.
Or Afterburner II.
Or Super Hang On.
Or Space Harrier.

Fuck, any of Sega's first party arcade games are perfect for replaying over and over again.

I've found that I'm addicted to Binding of Isaac. I've long since hit platinum god, but it's just so easy to jump into. I can start a run in 5 seconds and off I go to burn a half an hour or so. I don't even have that much fun with it, either, it's just something to occupy my mind with and it's just so easy to get into.
