It got pretty damn edgy later on when the plot started getting more serious. I still enjoyed it. It kind of lost its original charm in the later seasons though.
I tried watching Season 6, but I just don't have any interest in going on. Does the show ever return to the irreverent comedy of Seasons 1-5 or does it just continue the "serious" storyline.
Also, I really loved Church's answer at the end of Season 5.

There was another halo series in the height of RVB that I watched years ago.
I remember is it took place on high-ground, it revolved around a guy similar to church who constantly fought with a silent character who in a finale talked for the first time and turned out to be a girl in a Roadrunner fashion.

IMO it's worth watching through Season 8 and then quitting because everything after that is all CGI fighting bullshit backstory freelancers who gives A FUCK. Also Season 8 gives a fine conclusion in it's own right.
There's a couple serious bits in 6-7-8, but it's mostly fun stuff, and actually has some of my favorite bits from the entire series.

But I wasn't watching the show for "epic" fights. And the CGI kind of ruined the charm of seeing how much they could do in the game.
The drama just feels way out of place, like it's gone too far up its own ass. It's kind of like how Adventure Time started out as a fun show with interesting bits of lore and character development scattered throughout, but eventually became all about that lore and showed way too much.
Granted I haven't watched that much of post Season 5, but 6 couldn't hold my interest at all. I am willing to give it a chance now.
