The combat is just so bad and boring.
It manages to be more choppy than skyrim. Not to mention the animations are embarrassingly bad.
Just make Skyrim Co op, not an mmo. Not unlike the Dark Souls Series.
I got Elder Scrolls Online for $10, and honestly, it's not the worst thing ever.
Of course, it's not lore-accurate in any sense of the word, but as long as I stop thinking about any connections to it as an Elder Scrolls game, it at least becomes a somewhat playable (if kinda bland) leveling adventure.
Great? Fuck no. Worth $10? Sure, why not.

If only they'd made the world feel more alive....it has the same weakness that most MMOs these days have, it's you and 5000 other people doing things that don't matter for people you don't give a shit about. I want to play an MMO with on the fly quests being generated in an absolutely massive world where I can own property and do anything i want. CoE looks promising, but who knows if they'll pull it off.
I liked the dodging mechanic and hope it makes it into the next game, being able to steal shit is actually pretty fun although the fact youn can't rob other players is lame and some of the designs in the game are actually quite beautiful, but it just couldn't hold my attention. Ah well, I got like 30 hours out of it so it wasn't a complete waste of my money,still pretty disappointing.

Absolutely this.
It's no masterpiece, but if you ignore the lore-related stuff it's definitely not a bad game. I was actually surprised by the quality of some of the non-main quest writing, it's leagues beyond Skyrim.
Apart from that the gameplay is standard and solid enough mmo stuff, up to par in terms of ES combat really. Playing with friends is great but by far the best part I feel is the landscapes, environments and enemies, where the connection to other ES games and the lore feel the strongest.
Honestly ESO has more similarities to GW2 than any other MMO or TES game.

No Elder Scrolls schools of magic. No established classes. No supporting Lore since it falls into a blank area safe space time period (even though technically the Tribunal are in power during this time period and do fuckall).
I fell hard for the meme and got the Imperial Editon on release. I had fun only while leveling, and I can say the game itself is gorgeous, from the landscape to the players to the architecture and weapons/armor. Visuals are superb.
Crafting system is actually really great and racial styles are a great spin to color armor with flavor.
Queen Beckinsale for Aldmeri is also a plus.
Otherwise, it was pretty shit. It would have even been better if they cloned WoW with a TES skin, but they chose to clone GW2 instead and it's ass.
