Man I have always been ready to discredit this game because there is no way Nintendo can make an open world game on their first shot and have it remotely comparable to the stuff we get nowadays, but this does look pretty slick. Animations flow together nicely, seemingly no noticeable pop in, maybe they know what they are doing, just hope it doesn't turn into a glorified tech demo for really shitty tech like skyward sword.
Shame I've already decided against ever getting a Wii U, though I believe they confirmed an NX version of this game so depending on what that looks like I may try it out eventually when it comes out.

But it can. Xenoblade X looks almost as good. But Monolith is not as good as nintendo's first party studios, namely EAD. EAD made 3D World and Captain Toad, which look great, altough simple. A better example is Mario Kart 8, which looks gorgeous and at 60 fps. Zelda U will be a 30 fps, which means EAD most likely managed to push the visuals further.
So, if a dev like Monolith managed to pull XenoX out of the Wii U, EAD can pull off that Zelda just as easily.
But yeah, whatever. You are fishing for big fishes today.

I played and completed Ocarina of Time in 1998 at the age of 14.
I loved the game so much that I immediately wanted to know if Nintendo were working on another one. In those days I didn't have Internet, and the only way to get vidya info was by buying magazines but I didn't even want to wait for that.
In my naivety, the very same day I finished OoT, I contacted Nintendo customer support to ask if another Zelda game was coming out. Of course the monkey on the other end of the line didn't know, so I waited, later purchased a Dreamcast and used the dial-up Internet to check for Zelda news every day. Eventually Majora's Mask was announced and I couldn't wait.
What a fucking disappointment. I mean the game was very good, don't get me wrong, but that feeling you got from Ocarina of Time playing it the first time was gone. Maybe the next Zelda game will match the greatness of OoT, I thought to myself.
I waited and waited, purchased the Gamecube, and finally Wind Waker was announced.

I mean, Capcom were getting these fantastic fucking visuals out of teh Gamecube with RE4, which became one of my favourite games of all time, along with Half Life 2. Of course the Wii was announced a year or so later, before TP hit the shelves, and a Wii version was coming. Hey, I've had every Nintendo console up until now, and this Wii looks promising. I travelled to a trade show in Dublin, and tried out the Wii a few months before release. I was sold. Twilight Princess here I come.
Fucking. Disappointment. Again.
Controls felt clunky. Visuals looked like someone had smeared fucking vaseline all over the TV screen.
Not to worry, surely the next Zelda HAS to be great.
I had a date with Skyward Sword. Outwardly I was smiling (it's going to be great, it's going to be great); inside I was already dead.
Skyward Sword marks the last time I had high hopes for a Zelda game. I've let it go. I've moved on. I'm having actual sex with an actual girl now, and I don't care if Zelda U/NX is good or a piece of overhyped repackaged shit that Nintendo have been flogging for almost 2 decades now. That teenage lad who fell in love with OoT won't ever forget that experience, but the adult he currently is realizes that that experience was a once-off, and is gone forever.
i haven't even purchased a Wii U, and it's going to take a lot more than hyperbole and promises from nintendo to make me consider an NX purchase.

I just beat it not 30 minutes ago. The worst? No. I think you're parroting stuff. The only problem with it was the tedious sailing. It wouldn't have hurt so much if the distance between islands was shorter, I see that the HD version has a faster sail you can earn. I just used a speed hack for sailing. It was cool at first, but the novelty died quickly.
Great art style, decent dungeons, interesting characters and Duck girl is BEST girl.

I'm playing through it right now on the GCN. I've just finished the Snow Peak Ruins and have been enjoying it for the most part. Although, the boss with Stallord was glitchy as fuck and I do find the progress very linear and restrictive. I don't find it very challenging and it's kinda hand-holdey.
