It's the first MOBA that can actually be enjoyed by normal people who don't get titillated by right-clicking twenty times a second. It plays great on controller and is well balanced against keyboard players.

The animations are great but it will feel painfully slow at first. Some characters start off attacking only once per second. I recommend starting with TwinBlast to alleviate this; if you pimp his attack speed he's the fastest shooter in the game.

I've only played a few matches of the beta but I definitely think it's much more accessible for a player new to MOBAs then say Dota/LoL. The item shop is completely streamlined and the TPS gameplay will already feel familiar to you.
The only caveats are: the game is quite slow-paced (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), and the map is quite crazy and tough to adjust to initially. But the $20 price point for getting the game and all heroes for free is really admirable. Ultimately though I just don't like MOBAs in general so I'll be passing on it, but the open beta should be coming around soon so you can test it out yourself. Even though it looks gorgeous I just can't recommend it, but die-hard MOBA fans will probably love it.

The Beta has been ongoing for two months now. The $60 retail version just gets you into the game as it is now and it only makes sense to buy if you want $60+bonus worth of skins and boosts.
If you just want to play the game, you could scrounge for free codes on Reddit. Everyone who plays the game has at least two to give away. I'm saving mine because I don't want to waste them on casuals.
It is worth putting out there that the game is cross platform, so you can play with console peasant friends. That's what I do and I've been having a great time with it.
