ITT Weapons you wish were more commonplace in games

What a horribly shitt poleaxe
but I agree.
>>339470316
Sword catchers, sword breakers, and parry blades.
Poisons.
And by that, I mean I want to play as a mad scientist throwing poison at people and mixing potions.
>>339471150
MORE KHOPESHES
>>339471150
>game has a sword breaker
>it just lowers enemy ATK parameter on hit
>>339471413
Guess the country/culture of origin of this sword without cheating.
>>339470316
>>339470416
To add insult to injury, poleaxes tend to be something shitty npc guards use. Real heroes always use swords, of course!
In truth, polearms were pretty much unparalleled on the battlefield, perhaps alongside warhammers for serious armor penetration (underrepresented too, and often presented completely wrong.)
Sure you wouldn't want a halberd in a two feet wide corridor, so I suppose games about dungeoneering are absolved of this.

Just barely off from a bull's eye; Ivory Coast for that specific sword. Good job, anon.

Thanks for playing, have a birb dagger.
>>339471730
No.
>>339471787
Some more middle eastern weaponry would also be cool to see in vidya.
>>339471481
Subsaharan Africa.
>>339472107
how is it middle eastern if it's Spanish written on it
>>339471453
Oh shit I thought Goku was smiling from the thumbnail
>>339472227
we wuz moors n shit
>>339471501
A polearm isn't really a man to man weapon though, is it? It's for formation fighting, I would've thought
>>339472227

>Only swords are good dueling weapons!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTVC25hYJaY
Polearms and spears are typically superior in both duels and in formation combat. Even FEMA sword fanatics tend to agree in this.
>>339472227
Would you happen to know an exact country/culture of origin? I saved that pic from another anon long ago and assumed them calling it Arabian was correct. I'm an avid medieval weapons fan, so I'm still learning how to recognize certain cultural designs.
>>339472620
Not only swords, but weapons that aren't as long as your body
>>339472620
Whoops, HEMA.
Just a quick example of such:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2YgGY_OBx8
"If you're fighting in a small space... The dagger is probably the best weapon."
"The sword in most periods of history is a secondary weapon. May even be a teritary weapon in fact. But its not usually a primary weapon."
"Generally speaking througout history people who carried swords had as their first weapon a poleweapon... Or a missile weapon of some sort."
"Well in a straight up fight... Generally speaking the spear has the advantage. Most of you who have done sparring... Will know that the polearm generally speaking has the advantage."
"In short, why is the spear or polearm superior to the sword?"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAkCLpMtjlM
>>339472668
All the length does is give you superior body leverage, grip variety, and more options in what you want to attack. Polearm are particularly effective at targeting the legs and hooking the back of the neck unlike swords.
>>339470316
less swords, better art, more realism but not necessarily historical accuracy.
i fucking hate the generic late-game fantasy look.

>Salet helmet.
>No specialized gorget to protect your lower head and neck.
>>339472656
well if there is an engraving on it it's pretty easy to guess the country of origin, the sword you posted is a reproduction of Tizona, the sword of El Cid, it's literally written on it
>I am Tizona, made in the year 1040
plus the Ave Maria
>>339472834
>step close to you
>you can't do shit
gg
>>339472854
Do you not see the gorget in the picture? The guy just isn't wearing it
>>339472937
If you are close enough that the polearm is a liability your faggot sword isn't going to be much better. At that point it is grappling and dagger time.
>>339472987
I did, its just silly he put all of his armor but the one piece protecting his neck. We don't really need to see his face.
>>339472867
Thanks, my man. Have a fancy sword.
>>339471918
WHICH FUCKING HANDLE DO YOU WIELD IT WITH WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT
>>339473135
It's actually a morning star. You hold it by the chain and swing it overhead.
>>339473074
That's a nice sword, but the engravings give it no tactical advantage whatsoever.
>>339473135
>>339473135
Those are obviously carrying handles, you wield the weapon from that handle in the center, if you think it'd be uncomfortable either man up or just wrap some 5-50 cord around it.
>>339473197
>It's actually a morning star. You hold it by the chain and swing it overhead.
I've never played Kingdom Hearts, PLEASE tell me you're putting on a ruse here.
>>339473135
>>339473135
you stick it in the off-hand slot of Master Form or Final Form and wield it with telekinesis
duh
>>339473272
Thanks, Big Boss, here's a sword more for your style.
>>339471370
what the hell am I looking at?
needs more warpick
>>339473135
You grip both handles and basically just let the sword's heart swing it around on it's own and carry you behind it
>>339473478
>A half sword,
>Hrmm...
>The pommel is of suitable weight to counteract the blade
>The leather straps gives for a better grip without sacrificing comfort
>The blade has two edges and goes to a point without breaking and angle
>The blade is diamond shaped, to reduce the weight of the sword without sacrificing it's integrity
>The hand guard is solid and offer protection to the wrist while allowing for a wider range of movement.
>Hrmm *caresses sword*
>Where did you get this?
>>339473272
ever heard of morale? or intimidation bitch?
>>339473764
The engraving weakens the blade. A heavily engraved sword would break at the 1st semi hard target it hits. You can't chip away pieces of metal without reducing the blade's integrity.
>>339473754
Beautiful, anon. I'm sure BB would be a fan of parry daggers.
I always thought Man catchers were cool since I saw them in Berserk.
The only game I remember them in was an enemy used them in Vermintide.
>>339472710
I've done some group fighting with spear and shield and dropping your spear and rushing with a sword at the right moment seemed a pretty effective tactic to me. Maybe it was just because most of us weren't very well trained though.
>>339472710
I want a bloodborne trick weapon that's a sword that turns in to a spear.
>>339471481
Looks like some side boob
Early guns
More crossbows would be nice
Poleaxes
>>339474082
>not very well trained
This. It's very easy to win a fight due to reach alone. Nobody moves faster than the eye can see so a trained person with a spear would quickly react to you going for the sword and closing in.
And the fact everyone knows they won't die promotes recklessness. If you know you might get gutted for real you would keep that shield up and that spear straight forward.
>>339474082
Watching the video now I realize that spear is quite a bit shorter than what we were using.
>>339474192
Early guns would be so boring. You shoot once, miss, spend the next minute haphazardly reloading your musket. Aim, die from a charging cavalry or someone's lucky bullet.
>>339474058
Dark Souls 2 had a few enemies that used those.
>>339474458
Do you mean the Titinate catch pole?
Because it just used the move set of like, a halberd I think.
>>339471481
This looks like it came from Asterix&Obelix after being smacked a roman in the head with.
>>339474597
Can't find a good image of the enemy, but they're called purgatory guardians/executioners.
>>339475178
>Asterix&Obelix
Are you a Germanfag? Just asking because that's the only language I know where it isn't just called Asterix or Adventures of Asterix or something similar
>>339475334
Thats how the French says it too. Omitting Obelix is a sin since he's at least half of the story.
>>339475334
I'm a Finnfag actually. I think it's called that everywhere in the north, but I'm not sure. I think I have one "finnished (sorry dunno what's the proper word in english)" which I think is just Asterix, but it's a new one. Old ones have both protags' names.
>>339475334
As an Englishman I know it as Asterix & Obelix too.
>>339475532
>Thats how the French says it too
Maybe colloquially, but the comics still say "Astérix" at the top
