I like classes with either summons or luck based skills.
In EO3 I had one ninja for random battles chock full of instant death attacks. They hardly ever worked but when they did it made grinding way faster, especially against FOE.
DT2 has speilers and they're super cool. 50% chance to fuck up your team or the enemy's with 100% chance to apply status effects even if they're normally immune to them. You can cheat some boss fights super hard by paralyzing the boss where it can't even fight back against you. Her next level up has a magic box with 20 random effects, all super strong. And Lilian in particular has a passive called evil eye where every time an enemy attacks against her they have a chance to be hit with debilitating status ailments. It's super effective against enemy wizards since interrupting magic in this game is the difference between life and death.

Nothing beats playing paladin, but its even better roleplaying paladin. The "aesthetic" of the class is awesome, but what i love doing in pnp rpgs and such is play such an absolute justice type of paladin that ends up looping back to evil and my whole party hating me. Gives me boners.

>Monk - A kung-fu fighting warrior for the wapanese. At higher levels become fucking invulnerable and count as low-level outsiders, but everyone plays a fighter instead because everyone knows the wapanese are losers. Monks pwn everything except for fighters, or anything with a decent AC that hist hard. If you want to play a monk, you need to become an hero first.
Far and away the magic gunslinger. Too bad few games utilize this archetype.

Knows useless woodland spells like skritch and pretends to be powerful due to the nine levels of spell progression, even though wizards kick their asses. Games like Baldur's Gate II had fursecution as a storyline in which furries attacked the town of Trademeet, which makes all the druids very sad.

I can never decide. Though DnD-like Cleric or Ranger, being a jack of all trades and adaptable, appeals to me in the longrun.
I LOVE the aesthetics to Rangers. The fucking robin hood champion of nature, to me there is nothing more badass. I especially loved the Guild Wars (RIP) alliteration where it crossed over with Druid for nature magic but kept the more cunning side of ranger. However unless Ranger has something unique to bring I never feel like I'm helping aside going pewpew. DnD is a great example of getting to enjoy ranger, but I'm still a poor man's rogue. So there is some guilt.
I like casters that backline support, summon a meteor storm then heal their allies usually with a few more options until MP runs dry (if it does) It can be a lot of fun, and magic just does it for me. I really like the flashy effects that come with it. I've made clear Bulky casters like Cleric that can heal tank and do the dirty work are a top pick.
I also love broadsword warriors, magic knights in particular, but normal ones are fine as long as they aren't depicted as meatheads (they shouldn't, they are trained WARRIORS). I've grown fond of tanking in MMOs lately (though all of my friends usually want me on healer) it's fun being tanky and turning around to slap shit sideways. The characters I can build with warrior are the main draw. I can make a hotheaded jackass with a code of honor, and even go so far as to break said code of honor if it's for the greater good to get some character development.
It's not an easy choice but after writing this autism post if "magic druid ranger" is an option, I'll take it.

Ok, let's start with themodin it of itself, median XL is a mod fo diablo 2, which changes stuff from the original game, a lot, this includes classes, it changes so much, that you could have a sword wielding mage, a mage warrior, or, what you want to know the most about, a strong independant necromancer that needs no summons.
The way you get tanky as a necro in that game is by using a skill called "deathlord", it literally multiplies your strength by a lot, like, 4 or 5 times, it also multiplies your defense by 10 times if I'm not wrong, it also makes most of your attacks come out way faster, also, you can have almost infinite mana with a passive in the skill tree,and most of your summons aren't even for fighting, they're more for buffs than anything else

There's scythes and hexblades, the advantage of using hexblades is that you can use the other hand for other shit, like a necro shield (called totems for whatever reason), but you deal less damage than a scythe, but you can also attack faster, it doesn't matter if you use deathlord tough, the attacks will always come out (without +attack speed atleast) at the same time, and scythes are for absolutely destroying things

as far as MMO goes, the only one I can think of is Ragnarok, which is why I mentioned Super Novices. A damn shame, really. Having that much freedom in class creation should be something that other MMOs should boast.
The game also had Rogues/Stalkers, which could mimic the last skill that they were hit with.
Combat mages, I like using primarily magic, but having some melee abilities in case of emergencies.

Warriors are useless in BBI. Their arc of oblitiration hits for less than sorc/assassin/ranger or strider's highest damage skill. On top of that it's hard to hit while the other classes barely need to aim and just mash buttons.
Warriors deserve a buff, but that's never gonna happen.

Nothing beats the glory that is cowering behind ten skeletons and a blood golem as a necromancer in Diablo 2
I'm not overly picky. I find fun in smashing shit with giant hammers, burning shit with fire conjured from the mind, and being a dickass thief, and everything in-between. Typically I start off with giant hammers on my first character or magey if magic in the game just looks awesome as fuck.
Still, I'm not picky. All classes are fun.Except healer
In turn-based RPGs, I can rely on to always go first. With enough items they're a second healer and they usually pack a punch anyone.
Anyone that can hit the whole enemy group at once with their basic attack is a close second.

You're right. In Oblivion one of my favorite characters was a mace wielding god fearing lawful good cleric of sorts. So healers can be okay as long as its not just sitting there staring at health bars.
