It's an amazing game, even more when you compare to how much they improved from the first Drakensang RPG.
I havent played this one, but I played the first, is it worth my time?

Absolutely.
The first Drakensang game wasn't really all that good, but this one absolutely improved on everything possible.

I gifted this game to my gf
after playing through it she opened up towards RPGs and even started playing the first 2 Gothic games on her own
she even started to get interested in P&P and we played one campaign with another coupleshe broke up with me 4 months after that and stopped being a gamrgrrl

>improved on everything possible
Except it only had what, 5 companions and one of them had to be chosen over the other?
Well, uh, shit not really

I watched my friend play it on Steam.
I said it looked like a Dragon Age: Origins knockoff.
He said it played like a Dragon Age: Origins knockoff.
He finished it anyway, but as I understand it was pretty underwhelmed.
What's so good about it?

>The remake of Realms of Arkania will never be finished, and its wonderful saga will fall into oblivion
I really can't complain much because we are living a golden age of western RPGs, but it's still sad there aren't more games like RoA, they are great.
The goat
while everyone was playing ff this was the only CD I had on my PS. damn it was a good game
Shadow Hearts Series

>DA:O knockoff
Tell him the first Drakensang as well as The Black Eye itself predate DA:O.

Chains of Satinav and Memoria are also great games set in Aventuria. I love the gorgeous backgrounds and vistas of Satinav. They look amazing.
There is also a kickstarter going on for the pen & paper Dark Eye in English:

It's almost at a 100k now

DA:O is basically muh dark GURRM fantasy which becomes increasingly infected with diversity and Nu-Bioware shenanigans.
Drakensang is based on The Dark Eye, a German RPG setting that has been in print for 30+ years and is more low fantasy. The setting of the Drakensang games are also the most comfiest places of the setting.
It's not "I gotta save the world again from pure evil" but more like Witcher 2 local politics and local setting.

I loved first Risen but heard that 2 and 3 are shit. How are they really?
>>339243781
You can pause at anytime. It's sort of like Baldur's Gate
>>339246372
They're shit.
>>339246372
you will maybe like 2, because its still the same old Gothic writing and world but with more linear A or B choices
you will definitely love 3, its more open than the first and all the factions are very well written (The demon hunter is the coolest shit i have ever seen in all Gothic game) And for the first time in a Gothic game you actually get a decent party members system.

Fucking faggots who use Guilmon, Agumon or Veemon.
Any faggot can speedlevel. It takes a true man to go through the game with just Kumamon and his incredibly slow fucking leveling.
>>339241509
This game does politics better than most any other RPG
