Play for literally everything but the gameplay itself. If you go into it knowing it isn't very deep in gameplay, it's one of the most engaging titles released last gen, and one of Capcom's best games ever. It did actually get GOTY nominations on a good number of sites.

You have to treat it like an interactive anime, because that's what it was designed as.
The missions are called episodes and are the length of an anime episode, it has commerical break bumpers in the middle of them, and it has "next episode on" previews.
The actual gameplay is simple and it's literally like 40% QTE's,and the actual ending is DLCbut the characters, music, story, art design, worldbuilding, etc, is all fucking great.
If the over the top action and absurd sense of scale the demos had was entertaining to you, I at least reccomend watching it and the DLC on youtube, but you can get the game used for like 8$ anyways so there's not much to lose from buying it. The Part 4 nirvana DLC is mandatory, though, and is where most of the feels come in. The 11.5 and 15.5 DLC you should just watch on youtube even if you buy the game, as they are 100% QTE's.
Personally it's in my top 10 games of all time, but I can see why some people wouldn't be so hot on it.

It depends though since it really doesn't play like any other fighting games and incorporates mechanics that apply to each character individually ranging from UNIEL, Third Strike, MvC, Street Fighter, and now GG since Gargos essentially has Burst. Also if you haven't already heard it has one of the best soundtracks of all time
