It was very different then fallout 3 and thats why so many people hated it. Though fallout 4 was extremely terrific in a different way then fallout 3 was, people were waiting years for another game like fallout 3 and raged when they didn't get it. Fallout 4 was terrific though.

Am like how in Fallout 4 the ending actually matters. In New Vegas it doesn't matter who you side with because the game's over, and FO3 is just LOL.
In 4 if you side with the railroad there will be Railroad Patrols fighting enemies that you can interact with and help and then the radiant quests at taking down remaining coursers and remaining synths.
NV really need edbroken steel like DLC that extends the ending because the ending sucked. If you take over New Vegas for yourself you can't do anything if you side with Caesar you don't get to see the strip populated by Caesar's Legion. All the faction choices and endings are pretty much pointless
Plus your ending carries over into far Harbor and gives you new options which is cool

It didn't do the things that made me enjoy 3 and NV.
What I got was a Boston with no thought put into it. Even FO3 kept the super mutants vs the Brotherhood warzone far from where most people lived. FO3 at least had thought put into where shit was and the things happening around it. NV did an even better job of making a cohesive world.
4 has two towns completely surrounded by a chaotic warzone of shit just placed there for little to no reason. 4 was such a lazy disaster.
No skills. Very few interesting characters. Awful story. No good unique gear, just lame random drops from "Legendary" enemies. I could keep going but fuck that.
I just wish I had my $60 back.

Look up anything regarding gameplay overhauls, new weapons, sidequests, factions, gameplay mechanics, worlds/areas etc.

Getting to the ending is shit. In NV you get to start over and play a good game again with 4 DLC worth playing.
In FO4 you have to replay a bad game again in almost the exact same way because nothing you really do matters. The only divergence is which shitty faction do you get to do their full quest log with. I have played Fallout 4 for about 180 hrs since the release. Honestly the game is just mediocre. There are very few moments in Fallout 4 that made me feel "oh that is awesome".
Fallout 4 did exploration very good, but the game-world felt uninteresting with meh quests, characters, graphics, animations, etc.

My point is that FO4 mods don't matter because the core (i.e. questing) is bad. You can't "fix" it like NV. You won't even be able to get any good fan quests for it because of the player VA limitation. I'm sure we've all had enough explanations about why Fallout 4 was bad, but I'll try it again.
I actually really enjoyed it for the first 20 or so hours, the world is bright and fun to explore, the variety of weapons and mods means you can craft a pretty unique way to fight enemies. The characters are mostly well written and actually enjoyable to be around and the enemy designs were by far the best in any Fallout game.
The problem was that it had MGSV syndrome. You reach a certain point and go "wait, why am I doing all this again? Why does this matter?".
The story falls apart pretty much after you meet Father, factions go from being an interesting group to a pain in the ass once you clear out the same building five times. Nothing ever feels like you're having an impact on the world, even the settlement building eventually boils down to a square shack in a shitty, burnt out town.
The voice acting as well went from an interesting change of pace, to annoying as fuck once you realised there ere only about 3 tones your guy would speak in, and every answer was yes or no with a mildly different wording.
All in all, it was a glossy coat of paint on the Fallout franchise, I'm glad I played it because it is genuinely fun, but it's just not a very good game, and I'm worrying that Bethesda has lost their understanding of what people actually want to be able to do in a game.
