how good are you at fighting games
>>
Quite shit I'm guessing, but I don't care about competitive scene, I just play them with friends or bots.
>>
>>339169947
I'm pretty good at mashing buttons as quickly as I can but that's about it

So you mostly just play offline
>>
>>339169947
I'm shit.

Had like 40% winrate on SF4 when I played online.
>>
pretty good at street fighter. i dont really play other ones because they dont interest me to the point where i want to play them.
>>
>>339170653
Yes.
>>
Too good to play with friends.. Nowhere near good enough for competitive. (Especially with smash and soul caliber)... Ffs
>>
I'm not very good at Street Fighter, but I am pretty decent at air dashers
>>
Terrible.

Every time I try to do something I end up guessing wrong. Every single time. It doesn't matter what happened up to that point.

It's fucking annoying and I rage quit more in fighting games than anything else.
>>
Is that fucking Rainbow Edition?

Still love how that hack is probably one of the most influential games of all time.

The only series I actually spent time learning combos and timing and shit was with the soul calibur games.
>>
>>339170653
Playing online is a step above bots but still pretty pleb.

Best way to play is with friends who are into the game or in small local tourneys / meetups.

Nothing beats offline against human opponents
>>
Anyone up for an EU SFV lobby? I'm Silver shitter.
>>
I'm pretty bad. I'm new and trying to get better but I'd get killed in any real competition.

I think I'm okay. Ultra Silver in SF5, and I might be able to get to gold if I bothered to spend time in training mode, perfecting setups and more complex combos, but I just don't have the patience. I spent money on a real fight stick but won't spend time in training mode, I find that funny. I guess I have no patience.

Modesty apart, very, but I am not interested in them anymore since I have been playing them since I was a kid, am 29 now and somewhat tired of them

Used to play SF2, Super Turbo 2, XMEN COTA, Breakers series, AoF 2-3, KoF since 94 to XIII, The Marvel VS series since XMEN vs SF, Garou, FF series, Guilty Gear series since PS1, Tekken, SF EX series, SF4, even shitty games no one played except nips like the Jackie Chan fighting game, etc

No, it's Koryu Edition.
>>
>>339171080
I was pretty damned good with.. Bakuryu, I think it was. The mole guy. I really liked (and was good with) him, the lion, and both tigers. Jenny the bat was another one I liked, but I was absolute shit at playing her.
>>
I'm shit at them. I just don't have the reflexes. It's a shame, because I love em.
>>
>>339171376
did he died
>>
>>339171540
It's not about reflexes, it's about predicting, take this from someone with old man reactions but good enough to still win most of the time

Also, if your game has shortcuts, use em
>>
>>339171707

I'm an A-Rank Dan.
How's that?
But I'm total shit at every other fighting game besides SFIV.

Koryu and Raindbow Edition are the same thing.

I love fighting games. I wish more people played them because they're not really that hard.

I think the problem most people have with them is that they're conditioned from playing other games that, "If I mash buttons what I want to do will eventually happen!" so, new players don't fucking block and then counter attack, they just mash buttons everytime they wake up then scream when they lost, because modern games make the player feel awesome for doing nothing and they expect every game to be like that.
>>
>>339172571
>Just turtling
That's what I basically do when I don't know how to play a game an am new to it
>>
>>339172828
Well, you have to start by blocking and knowing how to punish, then you can run up to them and strategically press buttons to get through their block instead of mashing until something cool happens. (Protip, nothing cool will happen from mashing)

I'm sometimes not surprised that fighting games are niche given the popularity of retarded games. But then ASSFAGGOTS are also huge and they take some skill to play and teamwork to play.

The genre just needs another SF4-calibre fighting game that can properly introduce fighting games to its mechanics. Fighting game devs need to learn to code AI that acts human so people don't stick to bad habits fighting CPU.
>>
>>339173032
The thing is
1. Assfagots are mostly free
2. You can shift the blame or be relieved that somoene has your back

Fighting games intimidate some people and frustrate others who are stuck in lower ranking positions/losing sprees, hence why they won't ever accomodate properly those newbie players

Yeah fighting games need some Skinner box element that keeps the losing player in good mood. I don't know how that would work without shitting on the gameplay. Maybe have rewards unlock after amounts of matches played? Or reward for doing a certain combo so it's not either win-lose binary?

And the evil circle is that niche game becomes more niche since newbies are outnumbered by the experienced players and they drop the game faster. This is why a good and smooth launch is essential. And a game like SFV also should have an F2P version with a few characters unlocked so there is a big pool of scrubs. Once that pool of scrubs is gone, then the game starts dying.
>>
>>339173904
The biggest problem I have seen with recent fighting games is the matchmaking algorithm, they don't really pair equally skilled people which is a big issue on newbie players shooing some away in a short while

i can reliably use charge characters to their full extent, but only on sticks. on a pad its harder
>>
>>339169947
I'm decent. too bad fighting games aren't as popular around here than in other countries, peope usually only play SF, not even KOF is taken seriously here anymore.
Trying to find a match in Brazil takes forever even on ranked.

I'm a vega main most of the time and i absolutely hate blanka's playstyle. I also play way more shit than sf. I just hope i can find people to play GG revelator when it comes out.

KI tried to do that, but didn't do well because

I'm good at a few of em.
Had over 10,000 BP in SF4 at one point. Gold in SFV. Solid at Alpha 2. Not that good at ST, and godauful at 3S (Not that I even like 3S to begin with). No local scene, but I'm moving to somewhere with one, so I'm excited to play against real people and maybe make some friends.

I'm also pretty good at Soulcalibur and Injustice (lol). OK at Killer Instinct and Virtua Fighter. Need more practice at KOF, Guilty Gear, and Tekken. Shit at Marvel, Skullgirls, Darkstalkers. Not interested in Blazblue, Mortal Kombat, DOA, most other anime games.

>>339175356
Watch. Once season 2 DLC for SFV is finished, this game will go F2P. It's a matter of "When" rather than "If".

KI's problem is that they only have 1 free character at a time. SF will likely give you 8 (The same number as the original world warriors), once they have enough characters to do so (After Season 2, they should have around 28 characters).

I get a game.
I unlock everything and see everyone's ending.
I move on and play something else.

Thats as good as I need to be.
>>
>>339177376
This is like fighting bots in CS and claim you've seen it all.
>>
>>339177661

Whats CS?
>>
Not bad.
I've got the potential to be really good, but I let my raw talent take care of things for me.
I'll learn useful things as I start getting use to a character but I'll never learn the in-depth shit.

Im mexican, if you dont play King of Fighters and Soccer you arent real.

Just lost 15 matches in a row on SF5 ranked.

Doesn't help the only people I find are tryhard gold/plat niggers.
>>
>>339169947
good enough to beat your ass any day of the week, scrub.
>>

Getting better every day, started with SFV, hit Platinum yesterday with Ryu(and i got back to Ultra Gold 3 matches later, but whatever, it felt good)
>>
>>339180003
>tryhard
Yeah, they should just stop moving and blocking every once in a while to let me hit them, fucking tryhards I swear.
>>
I never got fighting games. Yeah i played them here and there with my friends, but they never clicked with me. I think the reason was that they always looked slow (but i like how you have a a great variety of moves and high skill celling).

>>339178410
Fuck, you're right. All my friends were into that shit and SF.
>>
>>339180413
Platinum and SFV is your first game? You were fucking born to play fighting games.
