The thing i'm noticing with Bloodborne is just how more narrative heavy it is (for a Souls game). In Dark Souls 3 I think I encountered a handful of NPCs that had something to say whereas Bloodborne is dripping with optional dialogue as well as content.
The games levels just feel significantly more complex as well. I really do see why people loved this game so much last year.

Right, but besides the beggar's quest and imposter Iosefka in the base game, and Eileen, there's not a whole lot of alternate paths to take with these npcs. Also, there's no good reason why equipping certain oaths shouldn't make certain npcs hostile to you. Equipping the vileblood oath should have changed Alfred's dialogue to you in some way, and so equipping the executioner's oath should have changed queen Annalise's dialogue to you. This doesn't happen. Meanwhile in DaS3, joining the invasion covenant will cause an npc to be hostile to you and straight up leave firelink shrine. The problem with the npcs in bloodborne that aren't Iosefka or the beggar is that once they're in the chapel, their quests are essentially over. And you can get them all in there by the time you get snatched.

It's in the open circle area with the busted suits of armor. You can't invade after beating the boss, so just never beat the boss for that dungeon. You also get the most action on weekends and you have to be the right level, so that's 98-120

Wet Nurse is undoubtedly the easiest, one of the weakest in the game besides the bitches of hemdick. She hits pretty hard on NG+, but not enough to take down any competent player.
Keep in mind that beating her will advance the game to the final phase, and if you haven't finished the DLC yet you'll miss out on some neat dialogue from the doll.

You basically just need to hang out in one of the designated invasion zones, the Nightmare Frontier or Nightmare of Mensis/Mergo's Loft. It's so hard to invade/be invaded everywhere else that most invaders don't even try, but there's plenty of action in those two places.
I think the Research Hall in the DLC had a lot of people invading when the DLC came out, but I dunno if that's still the case.

Bloodborne established an incredible world, and often left the player to fill in gaps about what happened/happens in Yarnham. Artists fill in those gaps, and a lot of them do a great job of it, so they're perpetuated and spread around here so people who enjoyed the game can get more out of it.
Besides, most of these images do exist within the game, very few of them portray things that don't exist whatsoever.

Bloodborne's main game also had bosses that seemed a lot poorer in design in my opinion.
Whereas dark souls 3 definetely had a few shit bosses like wolnir and ancient wyvern who seemed unfinished, bloodborne had absolute awfulness like Rom and the one reborn.
The difference is that they had the good idea to make the fights in dark souls 3 that weren't mechanically as sound as things like nameless king, twin princes, orphan and ludwig, fairly easy, but still fairly memorable, like giving ancient wyvern the plunge attack death and wolnir's entrance.

only hard boss fights were Pontiff, Twin Princes, Champ, and NK. hard boss fights in BB are defiled watch dog, defiled amygdala, Ebrietis, Gherman, loran Darkbeast, Abhorrant beast, and Headless bloodletting beast. when BB's bosses are at a low point, they're REALLY bad, but DS3 had a lot more easier bosses than BB did. hopefully the DS3 DLC has challenging bosses.

I found pontiff, twin princes, champ, nameless king, soul of cinder and dancer of the boreal valley to be about the same level of difficulty as Ebrietas.
The defiled bosses were pretty difficult though, but it's kind of unfair to compare, because in the situation where you would give the bosses from ds3 more health and less health on your behalf, they would be far more difficult.
Nonetheless, it means little overall, and I would concede they are more difficult.

I can maybe understand if you rate bosses solely on how difficult you found them, Laurence is a bit of a weird one though, as people have different experiences, I personally found him pretty easy compared to OoK, but Ludwig was pretty easy for me as well.
But on a quality level?
Laurence is fucking awful.
First of all, the obvious, they gave an incredibly important character to the game world the same aesthetic appearance as the cleric beast with flame effects, the third phase does help a bit with this, but it's still pretty sickening. I would understand if it was literally the same character as the cleric beast, but it feels like they just got really lazy.
Second of all, the mechanics of the fight are incredibly cheap, the boss rarely requires the attention of OoK or Ludwig, and instead is a fight against a large beast boss that has aoe's on a ridiculously high percentage of his attacks, which is incredibly poor for a beast type boss which has a lot of swipe/claw attacks, and the health bar of the boss is absolutely ridiculous.
The third phase is also incredibly simple, it's just "dodge the aoe's" and hope that the camera doesn't fuck you over for a second so you have to reposition yourself in time with the aoe's, which have very high damage, and then dodge his swipe so you can claw it.
Laurence is an awful boss.

Not to entirely excuse it but I think it was a lore decision. Laurence was the first Vicar. Vicar amelia is the current vicar. They turn in similar monster much like clerics turn into the cleric beast or Ludwig turns into ... Ludwig.
Likely Laurence turned the way Amelia did and they burned him when they put him down, so in the nightmare he's always burning.

i'm in a dungeon helping a random right now, i'll be a few mins
I've been trying really hard to get into Bloodborne since I got it over a year ago, I barely played it up until recently because I've been without the internet for a few weeks.
I find the difficulty absolutely blistering and this is coming from somebody who blitzed through Dark Souls 1 + 2 and have hundreds of hours between both.
I found a built online that's all Dex based and uses Blades of Mercy and Burial Blade (not realising that it's an end game weapon) so all I've got is BoM because I fucked up the fight against the NPC with the Eileen and she died (still pissed that even though I closed the game immediately it loaded me up right where I quit from) when I was to have absolutely no fucking idea what was going to happen.
So I'm trying to kill the Lightning boss in Yarghul and can't even do 1/10th of his HP before he destroys me, and I refuse to waste my finite source of blood vials (removing regenerating HP pots was a tedious mistake by From) just when I keep dying over and over, and the NPC that I summon is also useless.
Have I made a huge mistake going for a Dex build? I'm like level 40 and have 25 VIT not that it seems to make any difference to how quickly I die and some stats in Dex.
The thought of even loading up the game makes me anxious but being defeated so badly by Bloodborne when I find Dark Souls so easy is devastating. I know the game will be a lot more fun once I get a bit further and have access too more weapons but I can't even get there.

Nah, you don't have to. It'll leave you overpowered for Gehrman and Moon Presence, so best to do Wetnurse now while it'll still be a challenge.
In fact you could probably do Gehrman then use a bold hunter's mark or the run to escape from the MP fight then do the DLC, since you don't trigger the ending til MP dies.

Unfortunately you're just too under-powered/not that good yet. He's more of an end game boss. You'll realize when you get further in the game. Best thing you can do is get the flamethrower, and come back to him when you're 40+

That's exactly all I've read and I tried about 10 times in a row and the end result was always the same, BoM is obviously a terrible weapon to fight him with but I have absolutely no investment in STR therefore do dick all damage with the long axe thing, the only weapon with the reach to actually hit his legs before he spazzes out and jumps to the other side of the arena and proceeds to attack with his 1/4 arena hitting swipes.
I know it's a case of git gud but I can't seem to and it's frustrating the shit out of me, the fact enemies hit through absolutely every attack is frustrating, it's like staggering isn't even a thing. And those Santa sack snatchers are literally like a boss fight every single fight with them.

In essence what you described describes 3 bosses
The first is sif and his presence across the arena, dodge into his attacks, but always be ready to dodge out backwards should he start charging his lightning.
Remember to try and be behind him when he activates the AOE as it is a forward pushing hitbox.
Manus had wide arcing sweeps that took the entire arena part you were focusing on, how did you prevent this from hurting you?

The iron golem had legs which required you hit them repeatedly to incapacitate the boss, paarl is no different.

I literally stopped playing BB for 6 months because of paarl when the game came out. I was really burned out. Then i beat it first try when i picked the game up again.
You have to get comfortable with dodging inside it when it attacks and just hit it until it collapses. You should have some of your weapons at +6 by then wich can inflict enough damage to it that it won't gain it's electricity back. If it does you can depower it hit one or two slashes.
The fight turns into a complete raping once you see it collapse on the floor for the first time. You'll kill it before phase 2 easy.

Old Hunters is just a bunch of cool shit thrown together that doesn't really mesh with the core game. It all makes as little sense as Yahar'gul and its beasts of clay, which is where BB shit the bed storywise. Ludwig is likewise impressive, but his introduction and phase transition cutscene are confusing and just there for the coolness factor.
But Old Hunters is still a better DLC than Artorias with its one (1) new enemy type. We're supposed to believe that fabled Oolacile consisted of two rooms filled with a repaint of the many-eyed spider beasts of the academy level in BB?
Going by this, I don't expect anything at all from the Souls 3 DLC's.

It's way better than Artorias of the abyss, and has a running narrative that you'll like as well.
The boss fights are also some of hte best in the game.
The reason why you feel BB is more narrative heavy is because every character and encounter slowly reveals what's going on in the Bloodborne universe. Whereas in Dark Souls you will meet characters that basically just tell you a side story, you don't feel like it has too much to do with the main task at hand (lighting the fire).

I don't really choose to help them with that one specifically, I use the chalice quick-search feature and that is a dungeon that routinely appears. I actually hate helping on Defiled amygdala because the beckoner almost always fucks it up and wastes 10 minutes of my time. It's also a really hard fight to co-op because it's not always completely clear who amygdala is gonna target with multiple people attacking, and every hit is essentially a 1-hit. Safest strategy I feel like in co-op is to bash his tail until it breaks and roll when he jumps for iframe invincibility.

It's much faster paced because there's no shields. You use the gun to parry almost everything and the trick weapons are all really neat. Plus the rally mechanic also encourages you to stick in the middle of the fight at all times because you can regain the health you just lost by hitting enemies.
