1. Skyrim sold 10 million units on Steam compared to 1,5 million Witcher 3 copies
2. GoG sales do not count on Steam so we dont know the numbers for the GoG sales
3. Skyrim offers a big modification base and was longer on sales compared to Witcher 3 who had his lowest price on 19,99

Meanwhile Witcher 3 is a great story, but after you're done you put it down, there's not that much incentive to keep going after the story (Which is lengthy to be sure). Side quests have a good amount of effort put in but just aren't engaging enough to warrant playing for a lot of extra time.
