The shit right here is the first game I've platinumed, EVER. Loved it. Got the HD version two weeks ago, plated it in 25 hours game time. What a lovely game. Characters were shallow as fuck but there was a Studio Ghibli feel to their design which got me hooked.
I would have loved more down to earth mission, like when Kat is a house maid. I want progress to be slow and steady. I want to start as nothing and end up a god, just like I did in real life.

Serious question: why do people hype this shit up so much? I completed the game recently and it's mediocre in pretty much every way from the bland, empty world to the repetitive, shallow combat, to the poor writing and story to the last gen graphics to the horrible mission design. The only fun part was the gravity gimmick for the first few minutes and a few races.

It's a new IP with a unique gameplay concept and setting that is well executed and has fantastic atmosphere. The game is by no means perfect, but it has plenty of solid and great aspects to it.

I feel like the story was purposefully written to be the first part and they likely had plans for the sequel very early. Hence the sequel teaser.
It sets up everything decently - Kat is interesting, the casts dynamic is set, the world/setting history is interesting and its started up a bunch of plot points. It just ends after that without going beyond that.
Considering that, I don't really see much of an issue with the story and I quite enjoyed it, but I do get why people aren't into it because it just kind of sets everything up then leaves it like that.

Trust me, I like Kat as a character and her interactions, but I'd be lying if I said the story wasn't a mess. I don't even see how it could have been a small piece of a bigger picture. No plotline lasts for more than 4 chapters before going off the rails to something completely different. You go from being a lost Kat, to decorating the sewers, to being a vigilante, to searching for your soulmate, to being an undercover cop, to making an oath to save the city and bring happiness to all its inhabitants... in the first fourth of the game.
I'm not looking for an epic in the sequel. I just want focus.

If it does get delayed, GR2 will definitely take the cake, I agree. The first game felt a bit restricted and it really showed how it's coming from handheld until the 3rd city or so. I especially loved the underworld and the flashback-sequences in some desert area.

Apparently, Kat time traveled to a point where Communist Russian took over, and then they decided to give Kat the best costume before trying to use the Nevi to create their own weapons, and Kat beats them up with Raven and Yunica, and that's it.Oh and Raven totally rejected an ice cream cone like the edgehog she is.
