I found the game to be far easier overall.
The games first couple of bosses feel frontloaded in terms of difficulty. Especially on the first playthrough, Gascoigne and the Blood starved beast were by far the hardest bosses.
Comparatively, and not including the DLC, I found several of the later game bosses in 3 much more difficult, Champion Gundyr, Sulyvahn, Nameless and Twin Princes in particular.
I'm not too sure on the overall encounter and enemy design, but I would generally say that while invididual encounter design outside the dlc was harder in DaS3, the hordes of enemies regularly encountered in BB made it feel harder.
The defiled chalice was of course, more difficult, but that came really as a result of the limited health more than anything.
In respect to the OP, I found the witcher 3 to have significantly better characters, an overarching better plot, better writing even in the limited comparison, better story elements, and better world design.
Although it's really hard to compare given how different the game styles are, it goes without saying that BB had better bosses and better gameplay, but I also found the atmospheric values of both games to benefit them well, whereas BB had a very good distorted horror tone throughout the game, the witcher series and by extention 3 are really the only games I've ever played which captivated me into the eastern european mythology like themes and they do it oh so well.

I agree with all of your statements though. So far. I just beat the main Witcher campaign and am halfway through HoS (I think) Too much political discussion in the campaign but the expansion is much more entertaining so far. Also I've just beat Amelia and the first two chalice dungeons so I have no idea how far I am through BB. The atmosphere in BB is top notch. Better than most Souls games. That and combat are about all it has on Witcher but that alone is enough for me to consider it a better game. Witcher combat is too clunky and moving Geralt around the map is honestly a chore. It feels like I'm controlling Niko from GTAIV. That and the goddamn relentless Witcher Vision™ can really take me out of the game. BB is much more captivating even if I don't really know what's going on. The games are both great but BB is more enjoyable.

To be honest, BB's soundtrack is far too reliant on the horror atmosphere theme for me to genuinely enjoy most of the tracks. Some of the worse ones, especially the chalice dungeon tracks fade in to what sounds like low-tier horror/action film garbage.
This doesn't mean they are necessarily bad, there are even tracks in the game which evade this trope, such as the second half of ludwig's theme, gehrman's theme, and Ebrietas's theme, and they sound a lot better off for it.
One part that I was slightly annoyed with, was how Orphan of Kos had a haunting, perfect first phase in terms of musical direction, before the second phase kind of abandoned it into something which didn't really define the boss.
As the souls series gains most of it's musical fame from boss fights as well, it's kind of difficult to compare it to the witcher 3, which relies on battle themes to last the more open game length and also ambient tracks, but this doesn't mean you can't neccesarily judge the quality of the tracks use, I find several of the tracks fit lovely into the games world, the mystifying ambient track as you first enter Skellige for example, after witnessing the send off. It was absolutely on point.
But in general, I found the witcher 3's tracks much more satisfying to listen to outside of the game overall than in BB.
Dark souls, especially 1 and 3 are really good with their music as well.

I guess not. I know that I have more fun cautiously clearing rooms in BB than I have triggering 5 enemies at the same time in WH. I know that moving my character around the map is incredibly simple and fluid in BB while Geralt moves like a goddamn GTA character, getting stuck on stupid shit, jumping like a moron, falling off of ledges because he can't just turn around and has to run in a semi circle. I know BB has well done fast paced combat while Witcher is clunky and even switching signs with your guard up in WH can be a nuisance and finding the goddamn oil you need for a blade is always a hassle (though it will be fixed with B&W's release, literally taking one year and multiple GBs worth of patches and DLC to fix a common fucking sense UI improvement) There's more but I'm drunk and don't wanna go there. Played Bloodborne at my cousin's house, wasn't really impressed. It's hard, I'll give it that, but the combat in my opinion, seemed very slow, and I didn't feel like there was a lot of exploration offered. Granted I haven't played Souls since my cousin first showed me DS1 so I forget if there is supposed to be a lot of exploration stressed in these games or not.

It's still pure laziness they aren't adding verticality. Dragon's Dogma has it and has a hudnred times better combat and a fun world to explore with some amazingly well hidden chests.
