That would make sense, except that Far Harbor is a FUCKING PORT. OUTSIDERS PROBABLY SHOW UP ALL THE FUCKING TIME. You soon learn that Allen's hostility and xenophobia are meant to be character faults in the culture of Far Harbor--he hates the nearby colony of synths, who, as Fallout has made very clear, are sapient and not evil, but a target of 'racism' (there's an underground railroad FFS). Allen continues acting like 'Creative Writing 101 Dickhead' while you travel to Acadia, a synth REFUGEE COLONY, where you meet DiMA (name never explained btw) who proceeds to drop LE EPIC TWIST by insinuating that you are a synth, to which you can reply that no, you aren't a synth, to which he says 'well what's your earliest memory?' In a stunning moment of writing genius, Far Harbor forgets that your character was either canonically a lawyer or a soldier in the past and doesn't allow you to mention this, instead only allowing you to mention the beginning of the game. (Wow Todd, this is just as good as Bioshock's writing! 10/10 from IGN!) Again, that would be fine, except that when you say that DiMA says "curious how you don't remember anything before that, hmmm?" as if that in itself casts doubt onto whether or not you are a human. I thought the PC being a synth was an interesting thing. If you answer yes, DiMA brings up that memories can be fabricated, and as an example cites every other Synths that thinks they're human as well.
Hell, it could be very possible that your character is a synth given certain contexts in during the game (no recollection of actual memories prior to the bombs, memory diving into a synthetic brain, etc). The entire point was that Synths can't even tell if they're Synths. And the only way to discern them otherwise is to either kill them or use a pass phrase.

Mods still haven't fixed it. The DLC has been a shitshow even worse than Oblivion. This is the first Bethesda RPG where I actually regret buying the game and DLC. For me, the biggest problem has nothing to do with the story. The DLC has only a single 'set piece', by which I mean when you first show up at the island and have to defend it against an onslaught of monsters with the help of the townspeople. The entire rest of the DLC consists of visiting locations and clearing them out as per normal dungeons/locations. There is literally no climax; you make a decision, some things go boom or not at all, and people talk to you mildly differently. That's it.

I liked Lonesome road the most for its atmosphere, even more than OWB (Hated the reddit humor and OP scorpbots, and the fact they made me run out of ammo all the time). I loved that collapsed cliff and the vista you're greeted with in the first area of the DLC. Wish fallout 4 had an area as good as that.
