Artstyle aside, are you looking forward to Civ 6?
>>
I don't see the problem, reminds me of IV.
>>
>>338911290
AI not being retarded as fuck for starters. I love it when Attila decides attack me, and I get a warmonger penalty for defeating him.
>>
>>338912019
Don't cap cities. It makes sense.
>>
The art style would be fine if they just:

A: made the tree density on forest tiles higher
B: Made the grass textures more detail dense so it doesn't flat as fuck

>>338911958
and 4 looked visually bad as well
>>
>>338911290
>Artstyle aside

Fucking retard

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU8VM-jtXHM
>>
They'll sell 1/3rd of the old games and ask you to buy a ton of DLC/expansions so you get the features back that you would have had if you stuck to the previous releases. There's no even a visual upgrade this time around, only a sidegrade.
>>
>>338912248
I wasn't aware there was game footage out. No reason to be so rude.
>>
My son turns 2 in October. I'm not sure which thing i'm more excited for.
>>
>>338912279
They've said about a thousand times that Civ VI will have every mechanic (or some reiteration of it) from Civ 5 + the expansions
>>
>>338911290
Don't see enough difference from the last two civ games. pass
>>
>>338911290
Individual happiness is enough to get me keen, but for the rest of the changes, I'll have to wait and see.

The art style just makes the world look smaller. Like in Civ V, a jungle or a forest was a mass on a tile. In that screenshot, the I could count the trees easily.

I'm pretty happy with Civ5 with all the DLC atm, dunno what more I could ask for.
>>

thankfully, such simple art changes can and will be modded first week if thats what you prefer

personally i like the trees as is but the grass seems a bit bright

cum se cum sa
im looking forward to the game, most importantly AI improvements.. hopefully they get a fleshed out enough ai at least in the base game, one problem with V was that until bnw the gameplay got dull quite quick and BE had some serious issues until the dlc

>GamesBeat: Have you figured out ways to make it run fast when you have a big game going?

>Beach: We have a whole new AI system. The AI is multithreaded this time. Exactly where we’ll land on performance—I don’t want to make any claims yet. It should be good. It should be an improvement. But until we actually have everything tuned the way we want, I don’t want to make any claims.

>We’ve looked at some of the AI research going on lately, but the problem is, all of those developments assume that you have some time to spend on doing the deep thought. Our players expect to get control back. We are using some new technologies. We have a more goal-oriented AI than we did in the past. We’re using behavior trees. It can do things like look at a chain of boosts and tell how to achieve getting three levels deep in the tech tree by unlocking boosts to get there. Once it starts down that path, it will follow through with that line of reasoning.

>GamesBeat: But they still have to be beatable, right?

>Beach: They have to be beatable, and they have to be able to produce a result in an amount of time that players consider acceptable.

>I find that when I’m playing the game, I run into fewer automatic decisions, where I know what my path is going to be and I just queue things up and get going. There’s a lot more thinking on your feet trying to figure out, on this map and in this particular situation with these other leaders and these agendas—let me think this through so I can figure out how to get where I need to go. I end up playing the game slower than I played Civilization V, because I have to be more deliberate about the path I’m taking.

Now, I am become Hype, the destroyer of worlds
>>

this is why people complained about the artstyle, its only going to give us leaders that look like this, I can only imagine how much worse its going to get
>>
Reminder that it seems like each civ will have three uniques rather than two

http://franchise.civilization.com/en/news/2016-05-theodore-roosevelt-leads-the-americans-in-civilization-vi/

>Unique unit: P-51 Mustang

>The P-51 “Mustang,” an aircraft created by America during World War II, was designed as a long-range, high-altitude fighter to serve in dogfights, escort bombers and even enact bombing missions on its own. The P-51 Mustang was able to outmaneuver the best German Luftwaffe fighters above 15,000 feet and even outlast the efficient Japanese fighters, and by 1943 the P-51 Mustang was in service on every American front.

>Unique unit: Rough Rider

>The 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, better known by its colloquial moniker the “Rough Riders,” was a regiment recruited and raised by Theodore Roosevelt in 1898 AD to fight in the Spanish-American War. This volunteer regiment included 1,060 ranchers, cowboys, college athletes, miners and other rugged outdoorsmen hailing from New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona.

>Unique Building: Film Studio

>Thomas Edison, the much vaunted American inventor and businessman, created the first film studio in West Orange, New Jersey back in 1893. His film studio was used to capture the amusing larks of vaudeville and theater actors, to display within penny arcades, fairground tents and unused theaters. By 1920, there were a dozen film studios in operation around Hollywood, California, each feeding what would become an American and global obsession with film.

Sounds like Roosevelt's UA will be called Square Deal but we don't know what it actually does yet

His AI agenda is that he will not be fond of warmongers that are on his own continent
>>
I want to get into Civ, I've heard good things about 5, should I start there?

>>
>>338911290

I like the artstyle. Its minimalism compliments the fact that it's a digital board game. I think it's a positive turnaround from the conceited 'realism' in V, and it gives me faith that they understand what makes 4x good.
>>
>>338914501
Unique Buildings in Civ VI are kinda like Unique Improvements anyway, aren't they?

Also, China (led by Qin Shi Huang) can manually build the Great Wall by placing improvements on its borders.
>>
>>338911290
What is the point of this game? Just looks downgraded in nearly every aspect except for the interactions with leaders.
>>

>>
>>338913315
I'd personally be fine with longer turn waits if it made a proportional increase in AI intelligence.

Like, I could deal with having to wait 20 seconds between turns if it made the AI 60% smarter, in a way that feels actually smart and not just cheating
>>
>Additionally, Beach says the limited uses [of builders] created balance improvements. “Players playing on a high difficulty found that stealing workers from another civ or a city state was a great strategy, because they were around for the rest of the game. With charges, they’re not around long, so it’s not worth it.

Nice job faggots, you did this.

I really fucking hate this. Part of making my empire feel alive and thriving was seeing all those workers running around making improvements and reshaping the landscape.

Now they're on 4 charges each and get auto-deleted after they're spent.

This seems like a step backwards for me. I mean where exactly did they go? Did they die from being overworked? Am I literally working these people to death?

You could say it didn't make much sense for them to carry on living through the ages, but I just assumed that they, like military units, were representative of entire groups whose members gradually got replaced over the years.

Now what happens to them? Do they just lose their jobs and melt back into the population? Obviously not since I don't think a city's population will receive a boost as a result of them disbanding.

The only logical answer then is that they just die off and new ones have to be trained from scratch. Even from a pure gameplay standpoint, this just seems unnecessarily tedious. It was fine for things like missionaries and great people because they drew from other resources unrelated to buildings and military units, and either way they weren't really that necessary. More like bonus units.

Do I seriously need to hold off now on whatever else I was planning every few turns just to churn out more builders?
>>
>>338915561

Go google minamilism. Maybe you'll learn something today instead of sitting here confused on 4chan.

Or, you could sit there and shitpost thinking that we're engaged in some sort of argument about whatever ignorant shit you think that word means. Up to you, mate.

This, I'd be fine waiting longer if it meant the AI didn't do retarded shit, especially when someone like Rome or Greece goes and settles all those 1 tile islands with no resources around them in the middle of the ocean, or taking desert faith pantheon when they have 1 flat desert tile around them and you are morocco with a god tier petra and they ruin it by taking that.

So this seems like the place to ask.
Why does Byzantium in civ5 have a religion ability, but no bonus to actually getting a religion?
Without a religion Byzantium is literally a generic civ with no bonuses since the trireme replacement isn't going to do shit and the horseman replacement is hardly used.

Of course they would fucking say it's an improvement. Whether it's an improvement or not is subjective though. The fact that religion and espionage will be in Civ VI is objective.

Rev is a different genre entirely IMO, not really worth mentioning? As for BE, it's fatal flaw was that it was too similar in Civ V in many ways except for the removal of certain mechanics. It was a safe, inoffensive game with no real sense of innovation or understanding of what make Alpha Centauri significant.

It depends on how my early game plays out too. First thing I ALWAYS do when starting a new game is to rush fucking EVERYWHERE for ancient ruins to get all the early benefits I can.

If I'm lucky, I'll get added population to my capital and whatnot, which will help with producing it fast. Also, there's a perk that gives you a 15% boost for early wonders when you found a pantheon.

Trump'd be one of the only millionaires to become President (along with Harding, Reagan, and, I believe, Pierce), and the only billionaire. It takes balls to risk your own life while fighting on the battlefield like Eisenhower, Jackson, and Roosevelt, but it takes a different kind of testicular fortitude to risk as many business ventures as Trump has. It's also his attitude that only Jackson ever really had. That "fuck everyone else, this is how things REALLY should be done", flipping off both his party and the other. Roosevelt and Eisenhower both did similar things, but were nowhere near as brazen.

There's also policy, and all 4 of those men had great policies, so it's a toss up.

Forget multiplayer for a second. in SINGLE PLAYER, CN tower is a fine fucking wonder, can make a huge impact. Unlike say, the Pentagon, which even in single player is just mediocre.

Yes, in Multiplayer, the hyper-aggressive tech-based victory completely supersedes the need for a CN tower. Only a Futurism rush is worth attempting; a smart player should never lose to Tourism.
