I'm fairly decent, I suppose. I really need to do studies from life and from Loomis because I'm still coasting on what I've gleaned from copying other artists over the years.

I like drawing portraits because I'm not very creative with poses and I get body proportions all wrong. I also want to draw cute girls but I can't

last one i'm posting.
But basically i study animation in university and have been drawing for years now.
but it's never too late for you to start.

many great artists don't even pick up a brush until they're past 30, so don't think you have to do it for years.

pick up that pencil or brush and go out and just draw from observation, even just 5 minutes a day would build your skills.

stop lurking on /v/ and fucking do it.

maybe draw in a more cartoonish manor.
that's how people develop art styles, they pick it up on things that they like, and assets of other art that works.

for example, you could experiment with pointalism but branch off into your own thing entirely.

i'll give you the advice my life drawing teacher gave me.

>don't think, just draw.
and not just from your imagination, life drawing is an excellent way to improve your skills.

>you don't have to go to classes or anything, i use this site most of the time when i don't draw live models.
http://www.quickposes.com/

>don't be precious of your art.
simply put just draw and if it turns out shit just draw more.

i often make the mistake of comparing my stuff to art work of rick and morty, but the original concepts were really crudely drawn, so just develop things as your skills develop

>keep a small sketchbook with you wherever you go.
just when your waiting for the buss draw your view, or quick drawings of passers by.

i'm not going to drown on as there is a lot of stuff you'll have to consider (perspective, colour theory, light and shadow) but dont feel daunted by this, you'll pick stuff up eventually.
every drawing you do will be an improvement, so just get out there and sketch
>>
>>338805806
Your'e alright, you could probably make a fair bit of cash off commissions, depending on how low you'e willing to stoop as far as outlandish fetishes go.

life drawing is crucial, so get drawing the human form or animals.
even if you just want to draw fan art, understanding of proportion is key!

I think if you wanted to make money with your art you could. I've seen way worse art than yours that people will gladely pay for.
Last last year someone said they comissioned a picture and it sounded neat, but then he shows up with this middle school scribble for $10. Or like Axel-Rosered who draws the same stick body with perfectly spherical balloon butts/stomachs every single time and he's booked for the rest of the year.
>>
>>338806853

No. What furfags want are fetish artists who continually draw giant asses and breasts at bare minimum.

Look at zp92's art, for example. It's incredibly basic, full of awful anatomy (worse than yours) and 90% of it has very basic coloring slapped on it (equal to or worse than yours). But guess what? He still has 576,036 pageviews, 8949 watchers and 358,227 favorites on his FA page alone. His DA page (consisting entirely of reposted FA art) has 2,417,748 views (!!), 7,916 favorites and 5,460 favorites.

You don't need skill to be a popular furfag artist. You just need the right mindset to fit in, a penchant for drawing ridiculously proportioned anthro characters and an oversaturated color palette in SAI.

(I'm telling you this in hopes you'll improve yourself over people like this.)

Anatomy and consistency are where I struggled and I just couldn't catch up with my eye fast enough. My lack of patience won.

Like the abomination posted here. This was with reference. I made a habit of doing red lines after a night so I could see it with fresh perspective. For as many steps forward as I thought I'd make with each new effort, when it came time to take a critical look I just couldn't take how far I still had to go.

>because that's what people want to see

Yes, because art is nothing more than a day job and can't be a form of self expression.

You should draw what you want how you want. Even what I've been nudging you about (training yourself to draw other designs better) is more about being able to open your mind, about giving yourself more perspective and more opportunities to express yourself instead of drawing the same stuff over and over because it's enough to get you money and friends.

I've never been able to draw with a mouse, but I used to be able to draw by hand.

That said I used to frequent a gamesite called drawception, basically MSpaint for giggles. I improved a little bit by doing it but not enough that I'd do it constantly.

I'm getting into drawing and I've been doing it for a whopping 4 days now. I'm using a combination of Drawabox.com and Youtube videos on construction and perspective, is this a good way to learn to not be terrible?

I've heard a lot about Loomis' books, but I don't know where to find them around my area, so I've been going along the most logical path I can.

I still suck at drawing lines in general. What graphics tablets do you guys use? I'm looking at a replacement for this Xboxhueg rebrand of an Aiptek 600U.

These two drawings are pretty old, but I think only 1-2 months apart from each other. The newer one isn't near perfect but I kinda like it - although I have learned a lot from figures / body drawing after that.

I know there are plenty better artists in this thread than me but I think this image is shows that learning basic things in figure drawing can make simple drawings decent within weeks/months. After you learn how to sketch without being too messy and hold the pen lightly, you can start drawing figures (there are plenty of tutorials in youtube) and get better and towards gitting gud.

I was close to getting grasp of rendering lights / skin tones in photoshop last fall and then I kind of quit.. I feel bummed and think of picking up drawing / painting again every week

>How good are you at drawing video game characters
I guess I can scrape by. I'm not great with foreshortening or proper perspective. Also tend to make up my own proportions. But most people who don't draw think it looks fine, even though I know my stuff needs a lot of work. Although it sucks when I run into a real artist, they will rip my anatomy and techniques apart real quick. You get a bunch of compliments and start getting confident, even cocky, only for someone who knows better to put you back in your place. But that's a good thing too. You don't really want to get too confident in your own ability because then you wouldn't feel the need to get better.

I think I made a FF Legend 3 (Gameboy) character. Was one of the female bosses from the game, not sure if I had an idea for it or if I actually drew her, was a long time ago.

I can't do coloring/shading at all. I barely passed art class back in high school. I should have paid attention more.

yesdevs are devs who have a game and work on it and don't slack off. Nodevs are the opposite, shitposters or lazy devs who have stopped working on their game and bully yesdevs. Lately we've been getting lots of shitposting so we could always use some yesdev/progress posts to balance those out. /agdg/ is a general on /vg/, but sometimes /v/ has gamedev threads too, and we crosspost there. In fact some argue that the /v/ threads are more productive, but it really depends. You should just check out both. Many of us are amateur indie devs who post progress on our games, discuss other yesdevs' progress, and overall try to contribute to gamedev discussion. We have some good resources too.

Don't look at it as a whole. Take one lesson at a time, study one or two mediums at once, until you find what you're best or, at least, comfortable with. There's no hurry, is there? You gotta be patient to learn. I personally spent a year practicing various media until I decided I preferred charcoal and pencil.

This is false. I read Drawing from the right side of the brain and took a class. I'm not good compared to anyone here but In the 4ish months I practice I can now draw what I see to a recognizable degree.
