Bloodborne is my favorite Souls game, but the story and lore are WAY more nebulous and unsubstantial than even Dark Souls 2's. A lot of the bigger concepts are things that we don't even have enough information to guess at an interpretation, and I've argued before that the plot would feel a lot tighter if they had just told you from the beginning that your contract is to hunt a creature named Mergo. Because you're a hunter with a job to do, not some shmuck that was given blood ministration treatment and brought into the Hunter's Dream just to fart around fighting whatever until you accidentally slay the source of the nightmare (without even knowing what you did until you comb over twenty item descriptions in a second playthrough).

It really didn't until The Old Hunters. Vanilla Bloodborne had Strength and Skill builds that ended up playing the same way, and Bloodtinge builds that sorta played a tiny bit differently. Even the additional options provided by the DLC are pretty much gated off until NG+, since there's very little chance of beating Orphan and Laurence at SL30.
While the build variety is lacking compared to the other Souls games, I appreciate that it's all balanced around one another, whereas in Dark Souls 3, if you aren't using light armor and a fast weapon, preferably with a shield, you can just go fuck yourself.

I wish the new weapons they added in the DLC were spread throughout the entire game, rather than being contained to the DLC area. Build variety is so much larger when you include those weapons, but as the game is now, a huge chunk of weapons are all in three lategame areas. You can get some of them by going right after Amelia, but good luck with anything past Ludwig, and the kos parasite is hiding behind a final-boss tier opponent. I don't really want the DLC to be earlier and easier, though.

Yes and no. There are lots of really fun and varied weapons to use. Weapon viability and balance is much, MUCH better than DS3. However, if you want maximum damage gems, you have to repeat the chalice dungeons on every character which really hurts the replayability for a lot of people. I made three characters before I got too sick of chalices where as in DS1, I made like 10+ characters.

Honestly playing bloodborne blind was one of the best feelings i got playing a game in a while
Bloodborne is legit an amazing game, if only because it combines Souls gameplay with fucking 10/10 art direction. I was pretty disillusioned with vidya after MGSV failed to be the second coming of christ, bought a PS4 specifically for it. Bloodborne rekindled my faith in vidya a bit. Judging from how I noticed a spike in Bloodborne threads around 10-20 days after MGSV release I'm probably not alone in that.

I mean there's still plenty of bow spam/chikage at 120, plenty of a lot of things honestly. But I think I still have around 1200 hp even with the 50/50 so no real 1-2 hit combos on me. It's funny, now that I think back for the first 8 months or so following release I did play at 100, vitality was very low. I can't say I saw much of a difference in play style/skill between that and 120. Maybe I should have left the loft more often.

That's kinda vague. They make it seem like you need to have the blood iminstrations in order to even access the hunter's dream. And Eileen states she no longer dreams like the player. Djura also alludes to this.
And it's never really clear if even a drop of the paleblood causes the beast scourge, or if it's a continuous intake that causes it.
All in all, Eileen leaves, never to be seen again, so we can't be sure what really happens with her.

Souls games do not have linear stories, do have options to choose different things via dialogue like telling Pyromancer about the flame, telling people about the safe zones in BB, and the end game decisions, and have a fuck ton of side quest.
Not to mention many RPG games dont have any of those 3 things and are still considered RPGs.
