How so? Both of these instances are Blizzard actively going after them, this isn't Gearbox badly timing, it's Blizzard shifting to mess up their launches.
Overwatch beta was scheduled for mid May, closer to release. Randy started shit on twitter so Blizzard moved it to May 3rd, Battleborns launch day to bury it under Overwatch beta press. This clearly worked, because you can find oceans of people who didn't even realise Battleborn released.
Blizzard then announced Overwatch going live globally at midnight on the 24th of May local time (PST for them). Gearbox retorted by announcing a new character releasing on that day. 3 hours after Gearbox announced it, Blizzard shifted the release back to the evening of the 23rd their local time to drown their new hero in Overwatch release day press.
Randy arrogantly bit off more than he could chew and Blizzard is gladly fucking DESTROYING them in response.

This may be hard for you to grasp as the hivemind tells you to hate it, but BL2 was Gearbox's biggest success and has a large following and that series makes up almost all of Gearbox's entire fanbase today.
This is where Gearbox was just objectively, literally retarded business wise. There have been endless calls for BL3 ever since The PreSequel disappointed a lot of people. Gearbox devs (Might have been randy, big shock) basically said fuck you to their fan base and said Battlleborn was coming first and BL3 would be shelved in the mean time, and were quite big assholes in responding to fans about it.
Battleborn cost more than BL1 + 2 combined to make, and it flopped catastrophically and they've alienated a lot of their fanbase in the process.
They had a sure bet financial success option in making BL3, but instead turned around and spit on their (shrinking) fanbase and made this disaster instead, for likely a higher budget than BL3 would have cost.
This transcends just shitty game design and asshole CEOs like Randy Pitchford, this was a top to bottom series of retarded choices.

Tick rate is definitely not fine. Even with <60ms latency I had multiple cases during the open beta where I was already safe in my screen but died somehow and then the kill cam showed me still being in open when they shot me, or I went into wraith form with Reaper got killed and the kill cam showed me not being in wraith form.

I'll admit that I really don't like hip hop, but christ with fries there was no flow between the music and animation. It was distracting and nothing was focused. Had no fucking clue what the game was about.
