I have started to dislike it but I chalk that up mostly to my raid group being total garbage and spending way too long on progression.
You know I ping pong back and forth. FFXIV a lot of this time has a lot of really neat ideas that never really pan out to what I think was meant or at least what was expected. A lot of people like to agree around that if some things maybe got thrown around a bit more in developement they wouldn't had issues like Hunts or Hunts: Dino Island Edition experience.
But then again these are the same people that are always hungry for content (not that we can blame them). We gotta remember in the development of HW Yoshida explicitly stated they wanted to try something new, more patches, new concepts just generally MORE stuff - but it doesn't always seem that way.
Classes while fun I think are starting to wear thin on some people (mostly savage PvE people I'm talking too although it varies) in the sense that outside of MNK it's too vanilla or at least it feels like it. I'm sure the phantoms of XI are still attached to many people of the concept of being able to really mix want you want, but this is what we're getting for a long time. If the game had more classes I don't think it would be a issue (a lot of dudes want sam, red mage or blue mage) but it seems they're reluctant to comment often steer away from new class discussions.
It's a alright game, fun most of the time but definitely has flaws.

After you do each pair of dungeons the next pair makes the pair you were farming obsolete. The leveling system for extra jobs is literally the most boring thing I've ever experienced. The game was shit since 2.0 and it's the exact reason why 3.0 also turned out to shit. It was always obvious the game would end up stagnating because of how safe they were playing it, especially after they gutted the few redeemable 1.0 features that weren't complete WoW rehashes, and replaced them with badly implemented WoW concepts.

The promise of 2.0 not being a generic halfassed WoW clone, until it turned into one. They took out unique gear with unique abilities and the game had more variety of meaningful endgame content than just the single relevant 4 raid bosses and the primal of the patch.
While it wasn't much, it had Hamlet which also included crafters and gatherers, Beast camps that were a form of smaller scale open world dungeons and not just irrelevant areas with some irrelevant FATEs in them, and Skirmish which was a challenging enough 8 man mini NM rush, all which dropped relevant gear. Meanwhile other meaningful types of content didn't happen until HW with Diadem and it was a complete flop.
The maps got more unique in 2.0 but also more linear and much smaller with nothing to explore in them, at least 1.0 had shitty copypasted caves and mini dungeons you could walk to and hard mobs you could run into. They also added shit weekly lockouts for content with the best gear, while 1.0 only had a 15 min. lockout between runs.

I tried the trial and only lasted a few hours. I hate the leveling process... the content all feels meaningless, and all I'm doing is going from glimmering object to glimmering object. I'm not putting up with 50 or 60 levels of that just to get to the actual game.
I like the game I'm playing. I can actually enjoy the low level content and go at my own pace. I've been in the 30-40 range for the past couple weeks and I'm fine with it, because there's enough challenge, exploration, and other players doing the same. Not just painstakingly going through the motions to get to max level so there's something to do.
