Nvidia killed 3D gaming with their proprietary bullshit. You even had to pay extra to get it work on TVs and because of HDMI limitations you could only play at 24hz 1080p or 720p60hz. Also 3D fucking sucks on a tiny monitor. It only works on a big screen. Talking 100+ inches at least.

It's still tracking 1:1. The devs are the ones at fault for that.

According to the developers, this kind of stuff is actually very hard to pull off without making a lot of people sick, so don't expect that to be a common thing in VR games any time soon, if ever.
Exception is when you're playing driving games.

Nothing has been discovered to suggest that being close to a screen will permanently affect your eyesight. Same with using 3d displays for long periods of time. They can both cause fatigue, but fatigue is purely temporary. The permanent damage involved comes from looking at anything for too long and too often. VR headsets are no more damaging to your eyesight than regular monitors or TVs are.

I already bought dreadhalls and some covers for the Oculus.

vive has an entire touchpad on each controller
>>
>>338563068
I personally think the Touch controllers look like the better option ergonomically and with finger tracking, but overall I just wanted the headset for space/racing; but even in that category it seems limited.

I am thinking of waiting until I can just buy one retail, or wait for news about v2

the issue with vive wands is that they can be held in many different ways making finger tracking nigh impossible.

Did you miss the part where I mentioned better ergonomics?

I've tried both and it's not a huge difference between the Rift and Vive either. HTC was originally going to have a hard strap design as well but they wanted to match Oculus on release date.

The finger tracking on Touch is really overrated as well. Finger tracking should be done with something like the Leap Motion. Both headsets should have had something integrated on release. For sure the Rift and probably the next Valve headset will have it.

I initially ordered one from the pure hype, but my delivery date was August anyway, so I have had a lot of time to reflect on the order and read multiple reviews/gameplays etc.

I'm Australian anyway so it was going to cost $1k which was a pretty big investment, but I think I'll put that money towards a 1080
>>
>>338564080
Did you watch the guy's videos? You have to wire USB extension cords across your room for room scale to work with the Rift. It's not nearly as easy as just plugging into a power source like with the Vive. Also the tracking volume isn't nearly as high as what the Vive can do.

Also if you buy a game on Oculus Home you can say goodbye to chaperone support. Oculus isn't supporting room scale.
>>
>>338564404

>>338564492
>you can say goodbye to chaperone support. Oculus isn't supporting room scale.
not even confirmed yet seeing how much pressure they are getting, and with the code people found in home, it wouldnt surprise me if they do include one
in fact dead and burried had a rudamentray chaperone thing where you push a button and a fence pops up around you at the area bounds
and it is supported in steamVR with chaperone which makes that argument moot

and I said the max tracking volume was a 4x4 meter square

Source being what? People already got that it jitters at distances far less than that. This doesn't even mention the dead zones you have because of the smaller vertical FoV.

>and it is supported in steamVR with chaperone which makes that argument moot

Because all games with Touch are going to be on SteamVR? No it doesn't make it moot. Also at this point with their DRM I wouldn't be surprised if they broke Steam support altogether.
