He never went evil, big boss was being emo cuz he got cloned, after that zero wanted his old friend to work with him, hence the whole paz thing in peace walker, then when he went into the ground zeros coma, zero was the one who came up with the idea to save him with the venom snake plan, he was always his friend, but big boss never found out about it and blamed shit on zero, the poor guy always looked out for his friend and ended up a brain dead guy who never controlled the fucked up shit that happened with cipher when the AIs took over, big boss died without ever knowing how much zero cared about him

After listening to the truth tapes in MGSV I am of the opinion that Zero LITERALLY did nothing wrong. He is one of the most tragic characters in a series known for tragic characters. Nigga's life was hard as fuck.

Most of the shit he got blamed for probably wasn't his fault, but like everyone in the series he did things that were morally questionable and it's up for you to decide if he is the villain. I mean people defend Solidus and he did worse things that Zero.
