depends on the setting really, in various games I picked:
barbarian, mage, sorcerer- human
fighter, cleric, bard, druid - elf
paladin, favoured soul - aasimar
warlock, assassin, swashbuckler - tiefling
but these arent some rigid rules, sometimes when playing a module I feel like picking a different combination, or in some modules it just doesnt make sense to be anything other than human
