It really just depends what you're into.
Tera is more on the weeb side with all the anime and loli crap. It has a ton of gender locked content, so don't bother playing a dude. The combat is actually pretty good but that's really all it does right, it's still your average MMO, it's free though so there's that.
GW2 has better world exploration, combat is weightless and slightly worse than Tera. It feels pretty open and leveling isn't as much as a chore. From what I've heard some of the game modes are dead, PvP is also locked into matchmaking and arenas, you can't just fight some random asshole in free roam. Level scaling is also a thing so you can't 1-shot early enemies at max level. There's also nothing good to do end-game.

Both are pretty shit. From my experience GW2 is slightly less shit but you would expect that since we're essentially comparing a F2P game to a $50-60 game. Don't even bother if you're only playing for the weekend, if anything just get Tera.

All tera has going for it is visuals, fanservice, and the combat. Reminder though if there's no good battle content then that fun combat doesn't really mean much.
I had more fun playing TERA than Guild Wars 2, I played both on and off since their respective releases and TERA is better than GW2 in pretty much every way. Some of the newer classes are gender locked but it isn't really that big of a deal.

How much worse did the xpac make GW2? I stopped playing that shit before it came out, it was such a joke. I heard they lowered all rewards from vanilla content to "force" people to buy the xpac. That's just a low act.

You are not the primary audience. I don't know what TERA looks like now, but on JP server 95% of everyone you see is an Elin (the other 5% are playing non-Elin-racelocked classes). kTera is probably the same.
