ESP is kinda broken. Could be considered a bit boring to some.
It has 2 actual attacks. The PK Flash like one that lets Kirby levitate in place while being able to damage anything on screen from anywhere.
Then there is the teleport attack. Ton of i-frames, does solid damage on disappearing and reappearing, and you can control how long you disappear for and where you reappear. Pretty easy to beat True Arena just spamming teleport.

ESP has like three moves, two of which leave you a sitting duck but one has tons of range, the third is a warp dash of sorts, and then there's also counter attack that happens when you perfect guard. Poison is just a worse Water.

Poison is a more DoT based Water, ESP is absolutely top tier damage if you use the counter right.

This guy pretty much has it right. Fuck them for bringing shit like leaf back but leaving out beetle. Or, for that matter, refusing to bring back suplex again.
Though I'm not sure how much of a fan I am of the levels, even though they are better. Specifically there aren't enough enemies with powers in a level, so you can't change around at a whim like you could in something like Super Star. Not nearly as bad as Return in this regard, but still noticeable.

Yep. That game is half as good without on-couch multiplayer, and the new subgames are just tedious reskins of the old ones. All it has going for it is true arena, but you have to suffer through shit like "play the entire fucking game as Sword Kirb- I mean Meta Knight" to get it.
And the new graphics look clean and cool, I like them, but I prefer the SNES ones' character design, animation, and expressions.

I don't care which game is the fastest or slowest, to me those aren't really indacitive of quality or playability, especially for this series.
Multimove abilities are cool but I think it's mainly important that each one is distinct and functional, I don't really need them to do a different kind of move for different directions, that's just fun fluff. I think mixing abilities gets more out of the copy ability mechanic, even with oxymoron duds like fire/ice
I also really like the way the world and levels are designed, it helps that the art style and atmosphere are great, as you said.
Plus the minigames are god-tier.

That's one of my problems with 64, half of the mixed abilities aren't even good. In SS/SSU/Kumazaki games even the worst abilities have at least one move that makes them useful.
I would like to see Kumazaki try a 64-like gameplay, I believe he can do a fine job making ability mixing a lot better.
