Why platformers died ?
I seems only Nintendo nand indie developers care about them
Naughty Dog specifically only made what was popular for its time (and they still do).
But overall, devs stopped making platformers because why make a platformer that requires:
-level design
-exploration
-objectives
...when you can make a generic shooter with a carefully directed single player and multiplayer.
Because it's easier to make something that's well-designed because it looks realistic than something well-designed as a game which may also require greater creativity and artistic vision to make interesting to look at.
They're usually shit. Little Big Planet did it right.
3d platformers will reborn, wait for E3

Because of terrible shit like the one you're posting.
Ratchet did well for Sony, if Crash also does well, I see Sony green lighting more of them.
Hoping for Ape Escape Reboot, Jak 1 remake and Sly 5 this gen from Sony

My favorite type of video game are 3rd person free running parkour games where doing the actual parkour takes skill.
Unfortunately my taste is so niche that the one game to ever get it sort of right was made in 1996.

Platformers could've had a renaissance with games like Shadow of the Colossus, Assassin's Creed and Mirror's Edge but nothing came out of it.
We need another Ape Escape saga.

If you haven't played/don't like Crash Bandicoot, then you're a fucking shitter and should KYS

Crash sucks my dick. There were way better platformers on PS1. Spyro, Ape Escape, Tomb Raider and Jumping Flash were all better games.

This.
It's not even just shooters, most games have decided to go open world, so they can scrap all level design and still get people excited because "look how big it is".
