Ds1 left the biggest impression on me and my memories of it are the fondest due to it being the first game in the series for me, but Ds3 and BB are just far superior, especially mechanically. On release DS1 was the best one though.

I just finished it and I was so jaded by the time I got to the Nameless king that I didn't even bother fighting him and just teleported to firelink shrine in oreder to kill the final boss and be done with it. The whole game made me want to replay Bloodborne.

I really enjoyed many of the bossfights (especially the last few ones, lothric & lorian is the best fight in the series imo) and I loved the overall tone. The level design was great (not as good as BB, ill give you that) and I loved how well the world fit together. While some of the references felt out of place, many had a good reason to exist (geographical position for example).

To be fair, ds3 has a decent amount of character questlines that actually keep developing when the npc's have reached your hub, as opposed to ds2 where questlines were done as soon as Majula was reached, so to me often I wasnt obly warping back for levels. But yes, it's annoying.

The game's main content is horrifically boring, especially everything past and including forbidden woods, a selection of shitty areas and shitty bosses, tedious encounters, samey visuals, uninteresting things to pick up, enemies that are either incredibly easy, have far too much health, and enemies that largely play exactly the same.
I have no idea how anyone can not vastly prefer ds3, to bloodborne, at least everything other than the dlc.
