Doom 3 is actually a true Doom, unlike Doom 2016. It's spooky, atmospheric, calm. Monsters are meaty, not cartoony. You're playing as an average soldier that got good, not a killing machine.

I like Doom 3 as an atmospheric horror shooter. I recommend playing with the HUD disabled (Pic related) - it's really an experience like no other.
...But it just doesn't fill that Doom-shaped hole in my heart. I would consider Doom 2016 to be a proper reboot. It's not as good, but it's good enough to fill that void.
