It has the ability to work as one if they improve the spectator tools. The thing that makes it more appealing to spectate is that you can easily tell what each character does at a glance, and thus shit's easy to follow.
Like the spectator stuff sucks and the commentary is... alright, but this grand final of the last tournament before open beta ended was at least interesting:

There's enough room for strategy, and a few characters allow for individual player skill to matter a lot, or in this particular case, possible aimhacking making a big impact.

Eh, possibly. Pretty much everyone involved said that that could've just been the spectator mode, since it is reading from what the server knows, it can only see things in a more efficiently processed manner, so if he was really, really good at aiming, it would look weird and jerky like that.
Granted, he's the only one that looks that suspicious, but he honestly may just be that good too. There's no real footage from his game's perspective, so aimbotting or spectator mode being janky seem just as likely. The only one that was really, really suspicious was the clip where his cursor kept jumping back and forth between Winston and Zarya's head, a straty shot hitting Zarya every once in a while might account for the spectator view fucking up like that, but it was odd to see it consistently snap to her head rather than just towards her.
In any case, that's why Blizzard went with that 'permanently banned on first offense' approach, just first shot fired that they'll try and take it seriously.

Honestly, I dunno. None of their individual gameplay is so great as to make me think that they're cheating. I've seen Quake players do insane shit, and even potentially aimbotting Surefour didn't singlehandedly fucking wreck the other team, and playing McCree that would be very possible. Or Widowmaker.

I played against some huge names on tf2 before they were huge, and that's all they did, go outside spawn, get some easy kills until they get hurt, then run like a bitch back to spawn and repeat.
It was one of the main reasons I never got into comp, another reason was that they all have their heads permanently buried up their asses.

Aside from the outright cheating, why would you not condone the other things? I don't understand how scrubs live with themselves. A metagame evolves not by players forcing arbitrary, fictional limitations on themselves and the game, but everyone using the best tools in the game over and over again against each other until people find counters to those things, and then people find counters to those counters, and so on. That is how high level play works.
Scrubs are a fucking blight on video games. It's not that they're bad at the game, it's that they're bad at a game and whine and cry about the way everyone else plays.

some people have had access to this game for half a year now, those are considered the "pros" of the game.
