Tbh, the game's graphical quality is honestly a 99% downgrade from emulating if you're on a toaster like mine which sucks. Setting the graphics setting to low sets the entire world to muddy textures, except for your party. It's extremely jarring seeing your party in cutscenes next to characters with nonexistent textures.
However, this is more an issue on my end having a toaster than the game itself. Other than that, my only other complaint is the inability to skip the non-pre-rendered cutscenes.

Trought the game, Tidus has three different models. World model(left), cutscene model(right) and CGI model.
The cutscene model is the one you see the most when story is progressing or there is plot exposition. So if you played the original, the cutscene model is the one that stays burned in your mind, that's the Tidus you know. So when you play the Remaster and you see this emotionless doll with a round face trying to replace Tidus, it's just really creepy.

I will defend what I see to be worth defending. I find the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster to be of decent quality with many notable improvements and a few downsides that weaken what could've been a good Remaster. Certainly not shit though.

The FMVs are cleaner but cropped. That's not worse, that's a sidestep. The FMVs on the PS2 version are much lower res and blurrier, albeit uncropped.

No. The lighting is fine. Though that's my opinion and is mostly subjective. I thought the lighting was fine in Wind Waker HD but for some reason people thought the bloom made it worse. I am not one of those people and actually like bloom.

The faces are worse in most instances (not all), but the rest of the model are improvements. Not the characters. The character faces. Which arguably, the face is the most important part, but I still thought that worth pointing out.
Also its nice to see the in-game models showed stark improvements, particularly Lulu's, where she now has rounded boobs throughout.

All of the Aurochs are viable until endgame, stupid. You can play like normal and win most games just by abusing Jecht/Sphere Shot with Tidus. The Aurochs have late level gain, but you'll probably never have to grind them that high.
Replace Datto with Wakka when you get the airship and you're golden.
Playing anything but the original PS2 versions is a disgrace.
