You're both fucking wrong. The original voice overs and music scare of the original was the best. It really helped to add some ambiance to the world. Plus in the later editions the fucking devs though it would be a good idea to "Balance" certain player skills by nerfing them into the fucking ground. Yes, Bills extra health and sad sack skills were a bit much, but they were LATE GAME SKILLS. They were supposed to be strong.

That game had nothing on this one. I suggest you find a torrent online and try this game. Honestly, it's terrible at first but just wait until you get to Strickland's Pro-Pain (its essentially an arena where you fight random mobs and bosses) and it gets way easier.
