let me just start this off by saying that ive been hype for VR for the past 2-3 years.

but being realistic, is there really much to do with the Vive past the first couple hours?

if im being honest with myself, that whole reddit-meme-tier space pirate trainer will probably be fun for maybe 30 minutes a day max.

are there any games or programs that can make the vive worth it for now? (when the FUCK is someone going to crack vorpx for us? weve been waiting for almost 3 years now and fuck paying $40 for that shit)

Open your eyes, mate. It's a gimmick.

No, wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen hardware.

Eventually things like flying and driving games will be excellent in VR.

2nd gen isnt coming out for atleast another year and a half, so i hope ur right in assuming they'll have their shit together

>>338084635
sale numbers seem to be doing good but that could just be PR bullshit who knows. i for one hope it SUCCEEDS but its really hard to justify to anyone that buying this $800 shit is even 50% close to worth it.

ofc all those fucking faggots on reddit love to talk about space pirate trainer and how "its helping me lose weight!" thats so pathetic

is it going to have vive support or is oculus going to try to pull the platform exclusivity shit?

The biggest limits with VR is display resolution and and cost, and the cost of a machine that can actually render a game at the necessary resolution and framerate. Both of which will fall steadily over time.

When the cost of a PC/console + headset comes down to <~$700, that's when you'll see widespread adoption.

Just go to the arcades
>>
>>338084201
Right now, my main use for it is porn, Elite, Project CARS and Space Pirate Trainer (call it a meme-tier, it's still fucking good arcade shooter)

Having said that, I intend to play around and do something myself in Unreal or Unity for it at some point. If I didn't want to do it, I would have never bought it.

Also Out of Ammo, but that game is fun only because it's in VR, without it, it would be fucking horrible.

>>338087676
i mean why would you spend the $40 when you could presumably get it for free and with the ease of clicking "download"?

it just boggles my mind why nobody has cracked it/released it to the public yet
>>
>>338084418
I don't know who thought that swords would work in VR.
>>
Apart from official Vive/Rift games, there's also mods to make games like GTAV work in VR and even stuff like Metroid Prime on Dolphin. You're playing on PC, if you get a VR headset you're not going to be limited to the official games like PSVR will be.
>>
For me personally, I want VR for sim games, mostly racing games. So I'll wait until VR headsets get cheaper.
