In some 3rd world countries it's possible it would take too long to download a game digitally.

It's also possible you might not have enough space on the device to store it.

Physical copies make a lot more sense on consoles since they tend to have horrible download speeds and limited hard drive capacity and it's easier to bring a disk over your friends house than your full console.

Other than that digital is the way to go. I haven't purchased physical media in over a year.

Yeah but they can't really take that away from you

It doesn't really matter anyway, people act like there's going to be some gaming apocalypse where companies are going to brick all your games for no reason, which would be PR suicide not to mention legal ramifications.

>but the EULA

They never hold up in court. You can't sell shit then break it.
>>
>>338061716
I said you have a transferable license, which you do. There is nothing in the EULA that says you can't resell your copy of a physical game and there's nothing they could to stop you anyway.

Nice try though

Bandwidth caps are making their return in North America to curb people cancelling the television subcriptions changing to entertainment providers such as hulu, amazon prime and netflix.

There's a perfectly legitimate reason for a company to brick all your games, and it's called bankruptcy. See: GFWL, OnLive, etc.

And there is no legal recourse for anyone who used those services.

Thinking something like that can't or won't happen again is pure idiocy.

They can't though, I can always sell that copy and someone else can play it in a different PS4 / Xbox One. Sony and MS can't stop me from playing games on a different machine, unless they want to release a patch that makes DOOM unplayable on every PS4 / One on the market.

It's nice for handhelds so you have games with you without having to carry a separate case for your games.
Digital Vita or PSP games let you put it on 3 different devices which is pretty nice for adhoc multiplayer games since it only costs you the price of one copy.
>>

I like having a physical collection.

Would I replace, say, a collection of coins, watches, or whatever, with pictures on my computer? I'm not going to use them; If they'll only be looked at, it'd be safer, and easier to manage pictures too.

Also, physical copies (generally) don't take up any noticeable space. Especially useful on Vita.

Usually won't matter to me on PC, though.

Publishers and developers absolutely have every right to charge what they want for their product. A digital download costing the same as a physical copy is not games costing 'exponentially higher as time goes on'.

You'll also find that the only ones still charging a full 60 bucks per game are big budget AAA publishers and the vast majority of developers release their games at lower prices than what was average 20 years ago.

>What is the point of buying physical copies of games anymore?

Well for one, 15 years from now I want to look around my entertainment center and see I spent my money on something rather than look at barren shelves and wonder where all my time and money went.
Second, I tend not to play games I get digitally half the time. I know I'm not the only one here who has a large steam library that is mostly unplayed, I see you people complaining about that all the time. There is an interesting bit of psychology at work here, to. It might really just be as simple as "out of sight, out of mind". Your steam library basically doesn't exist until you access it, so it's easier to dismiss.
Third I like having something I can pass to friends and they can pass to me. I can't count how many games I played for free because a friend just lent me theirs. Likewise they've benefited from my collection to.
Forth, I can't sell my steam library, at least not without getting in trouble and having it permabanned. I can however sell my Xbox and all the games it has if I am in a pinch or just don't want it anymore. Hell I can turn the game cases into a shitty suit of armor if I want; they're mine to do whatever with, and no one can tell me otherwise.
Fifth, and relating to the forth, if I get banned from playing these games I can sell them. While I don't mod or anything, I feel very sorry for everyone who bought Dark Souls III on PC and just happened to go into the wrong game at the wrong time and is now softbanned. If they got it on PS4 and got softbanned, they could have just traded the game in and got something back for their loss. But they wouldn't get softbanned on the PS4 anyway because most the hacking bullshit is all on PC these days.

To spend your money on a tangible, physical object, to have "ownership" (I'm aware you don't really own the games you buy anymore, but having all the data on a disc or a cartridge that isn't reliant on the internet means you at least own it more than some Steamtard with $10k in digital DRM downloads), to have something to put on your shelf, Amazon Prime gives you like $13 off all new games, so you save money buying physical, and installation times are lower when you have a disk with all the data on it to begin with.

Although I don't like the direction physical PC games have been going where if they even include a disc anymore instead of just a Steam voucher, it only has a 1/4th of the data on it so you still end up having to download almost everything over the internet. It's all a big fucking joke, I don't know why anyone even wastes money on games anymore instead of just pirating them. You literally own a game more by pirating it than you do by paying for it these days.
